Razer, a company known for its gaming hardware, software and systems, has said that two prototype models of its gaming laptop with three screen have been stolen at CES. The event, which took place from January 5-8 in Las Vegas, is where many companies unveil some of their latest products. The prototype laptop that Razer took to the event has three 4K screens.
A spokesman for the company said they are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to identification and arrest of those that stole the gaming laptop. Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said that the incident was being taken very seriously. The gaming laptop with the three screens went missing from its booth on the last day of the tech show.
Razer, which was founded in 1998, unveiled Project Valerie at the tech show. The laptop is said to be the world’s first triple display laptop and it quickly caught the attention of gamers when it was unveiled. Mr. Tan said in a post on his Facebook page that their team worked months on end to conceptualize and develop these units. He also added that it is cheating and that cheating doesn’t sit well with them.
The two Razer Project Valerie laptops were stolen from the booth on Sunday, which was the last day of the event. A spokeswoman for the tech show spoke to the BBC and confirmed that the two laptops had been reported as stolen. The company has not said which prototypes were taken from the booth.
Razer’s Project Valerie has made news around the world as it is something gamers hadn’t seen before. The gaming laptop was one of the most impressive announcements of the tech show. The company has not announced a price or release date for this gaming laptop as the product shown at CES (2017) was a prototype.
The laptops were in the company’s booth and many are wondering how this happened since the tech show always has cameras and security. CES 2017 began on January 5 and there was plenty of technology announced during the event, including Razer’s gaming laptop. The company is currently offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to identification and arrest of those involved in the crime. The reward was also mentioned in the post published by Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan on his official Facebook page.
