Wrestlemania 33 is a few months away but fans are now getting an idea on the matches they could see at the event. Last week’s Royal Rumble was won by Randy Orton, who will now be part of the main event against the superstar who holds the WWE Championship. There were also new WWE Raw Tag Team Champions, WWE Cruiserweight Champion and WWE Champion, so a lot of things changed during the Royal Rumble. Wrestlemania 33 is just a few months away and while there are still a few events before that, there are already a few matches being rumored. Here are some of the matches that could end up happening at Wrestlemania 33:
Samoa Joe vs. Triple H
The first ever two time NXT Champion Samoa Joe made an appearance during this week’s episode of WWE Raw. His debut on the main roster was not for a match but to attack Seth Rollins, who began feuding with Triple H after the WWE Universal Championship match last year. Rollins, who was not in the Royal Rumble after losing his spot in a match, surprised fans with an appearance at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio, where he called out Triple H. On the following episode of WWE Raw, Triple H made an appearance but it was Samoa Joe who attacked Seth Rollins. During the attack, Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury, which could leave him out of Wrestlemania 33.
Some sites are reporting that the injury could keep him out for up to eight weeks, which means he could still return before Wrestlemania 33. But the injury now puts the match in doubt and some sites have reported that Triple H could now face Samoa Joe. This match would be a little different from what was planned as Samoa Joe appears to have been brought in by Triple H to help him against Rollins.
John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
In recent months, John Cena vs. The Undertaker has been mentioned as one of the matches that could happen at Wrestlemania 33. Fans would love to see that match but it was recently reported that the upcoming feud had been canceled. Recent rumors now say that John Cena, who is the current WWE Champion, will now be in a tag team match with his girlfriend Nikki Bella against The Miz and Maryse. It is also rumored that Nikki Bella will retire after Wrestlemania 33.
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
Randy Orton recently joined the Wyatt family but he could end up facing Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 33. After last week’s Royal Rumble, we now know that Randy Orton will be part of the main but the match between them could happen if Bray Wyatt wins the WWE Championship at the next event, WWE Elimination Chamber. WWE Champion John Cena, Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, The Miz, Baron Corbin and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose will be part of the match.
Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker
Roman Reigns was the number 30 spot at Sunday’s Royal Rumble match and while he didn’t win, he eliminated The Undertaker. The moment seemed like it was the start of a feud and a match at Wrestlemania 33 is now said to be part of the current plans. The rumored plans before that were for The Undertaker to face John Cena at Wrestlemania 33.
Charlotte vs. Bayley
Bayley has a few wins against Charlotte but at WWE Royal Rumble, Charlotte remained undefeated in PPV events. The rumored plan is for Bayley to face Charlotte at Wrestlemania 33. It’s also been rumored in recent weeks that a bigger match could happen, with Sasha Banks, Nia Jax and Bayley all facing Charlotte at Wrestlemania 33 for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
During this week’s episode of WWE Raw, Paul Heyman challenged Goldberg to face Brock Lesnar once again, this time at Wrestlemania 33. Goldberg faced Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 12 years ago but the feud began once again with a match at WWE Survivor Series. The two fought again at this year’s Royal Rumble, with Goldberg once again surprising everyone. Goldberg will be on WWE Raw next week to respond to the challenge from Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar.
Wrestlemania 33 will take place on April 2, 2017 in Orlando. Which matches would you like to see at the event? What do you think about the rumored matches? Let us know in the comments.
