WWE SummerSlam (2017) – Matches Confirmed So Far

WWE Summerslam (2017) is already looking like a great event, despite having just four matches on its card. The event, which will take place on August 20, will feature matches from WWE Raw and SmackDown brands. Each brand has two matches on the card but there are a few episodes left, which means we will see plenty more added in the next few weeks. All four matches on the card are for championships and three of them are matches we haven’t seen before. Here are all the matches so far and the ones that could be added in the upcoming episodes of WWE Raw and SmackDown:

Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley

Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley is the only match on the card that fans have already seen in previous PPVs. The WWE Raw Women’s Champion recently faced Sasha Banks and lost by count-out. The result meant the title would not change hands. On the next two WWE Raw episodes, Bayley got two victories against the champion. Banks and Bayley later talked to Kurt Angle about a title opportunity and the WWE Raw GM scheduled a match between the two to decide the number one contender. Bayley defeated Banks on the following episode of WWE Raw to become the number one contender for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

Naomi vs. Natalya

Earlier this month, Shane scheduled a match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Lana, Natalya and Tamina to determine the number one contender for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Charlotte and Natalya were the last two in the match and it was Natalya who won the title opportunity.

Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura or John Cena

Jinder Mahal’s feud with Randy Orton appears to be over for now but the WWE Champion could be facing one of the winningest superstars in WWE over the last ten years or a former NXT Champion who has looked really strong since making his main roster debut. We’re talking about Cena and Nakamura, who will be facing each other in next week’s WWE SmackDown for a title opportunity at WWE Summerslam. The match is quite interesting as Cena recently returned and is looking to become the superstar with most title wins ever. On the other hand, Nakamura is looking to become WWE Champion after having a good run in NXT.

Cena was WWE Champion not too long ago but he didn’t hold the title for long. After a short absence, Cena returned and defeated Rusev. Nakamura has been on the main roster for a few months now and has faced superstars such as Owens, Ziggler and Corbin. This is definitely one of the tougher matches to predict as Cena and Nakamura have looked nearly unstoppable recently.

Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns? Good match at Wrestlemania 31. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman? It’s happened plenty of times, most recently an ambulance match that Strowman won. Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe? Happened in the previous PPV and despite being a short match, Samoa Joe showed that he is a strong competitor for the title.

Now all four will be facing each other at WWE Summerslam for the WWE Universal Championship. This match is maybe the most difficult to predict out of all matches in the event since all four superstars have looked strong against the roster and each other. The upcoming episode of WWE Raw will have a preview of that, with a match between Strowman, Reigns and Joe.

Matches That Could Be Added

A few more matches will probably be added and one of them could be Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt, who recently attacked the former WWE Universal Champion. On last week’s episode of WWE Raw, Wyatt interrupted and attacked Balor, causing him to lose his match.

Another match that could soon be added is The New Day vs. The Usos. Last week, they lost the tag team titles to The New Day and it didn’t take long for them to continue their feud. After a rap battle and singles matches, The Usos could be facing them at WWE Summerslam after attacking them during their celebration.

Rollins and Ambrose appear to have a feud with The Miz and his new team, which could turn into a match at the event.
