WWE Summerslam (2017) – Start Time and Match Card

WWE SummerSlam is less than a day away and we can’t wait to see what happens as the big feuds from WWE Raw and SmackDown will all be having matches there. The PPV, which will take place at the Barclays Center in New York, has eight title matches. Here is everything you need to know about the event:

Kickoff Show

The New Day will be facing The Usos in a rematch of WWE Battleground. The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions couldn’t celebrate their win since they were attacked by The Usos as they were making their entrance. On the following episode, a rematch was scheduled for the event. It was later announced that the match would be part of the kickoff show, which will have three matches.

Akira Tozawa will be facing Neville after his huge victory for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. On the August 14 episode of WWE Raw, Tozawa entered the ring as the challenger but surprised Neville, who had been very impressive against his competition. Neville will now have his rematch at WWE SummerSlam and will look to become a two time WWE Cruiserweight Champion. On Wednesday, WWE announced the match would be part of the kickoff show.

The third match of the kickoff show is a six man tag team match between The Hardy Boyz and Jason Jordan vs. The Miz and The Miztourage. The feud began when Jordan declined an invitation from The Miz to be part of The Miztourage. He later defeated The Miz by disqualification after The Miztourage got involved. The Hardy Boyz entered the ring to help out Jordan and a match was later scheduled between the two teams.

Naomi vs. Natalya

Natalya became the number one contender for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship after a huge victory at WWE Battleground. Since then, the two have faced each other in a tag match. Carmella and James Ellsworth have also warned the two about the money in the bank briefcase, which can be used by Carmella at any time.

Randy Orton vs. Rusev

Earlier this month, Rusev issued an open challenge for WWE SummerSlam and it was Randy Orton who accepted it. Since then, the two have attacked each other. The two superstars lost in the previous PPV and are looking to get back in the title race.

Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

After big wins against Randy Orton in recent weeks, Mahal asked for a new opponent at WWE SummerSlam. Cena challenged Mahal for the WWE Championship at the event but was told by SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan that he needed to earn a title opportunity. On the following episode, Cena and Nakamura faced each other for the title opportunity and it was Nakamura who won.

Big Show vs. Big Cass

Big Show and Big Cass will be facing each other at WWE SummerSlam after attacks and interruptions in recent weeks. On the latest episode of WWE Raw, the Big Show was injured after Luke Gallows, Anderson and Big Cass hit his hand with the door of the shark cage. Amore will be suspended above the ring inside of a shark cage as part of the match.

Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Brock Lesnar will be facing Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe. It will be the second title defence for Lesnar, who defeated Samoa Joe in the previous PPV. Strowman, Reigns and Joe are looking to become WWE Universal Champions for the first time while Lesnar is looking to continue his run as champion.

John Cena vs. Baron Corbin

Cena lost to Nakamura but helped him shortly after the match, putting Corbin through an announcers table after he attacked Nakamura. Bryan then announced a match between the two at WWE SummerSlam.

AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens became a three time WWE United States Champion at Battleground but the victory didn’t last long as Styles and Jericho both asked for a rematch. A triple threat match was scheduled for that episode and it was Styles who won. Owens then asked for his rematch on the following episode and lost. He wasn’t happy with the result as both shoulders were not on the mat. Owens asked for another rematch with a different referee and it was announced by Bryan that Shane would be a special guest referee.

Sheamus and Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose

After weeks and weeks of Rollins and Ambrose ignoring each other for a The Shield fist bump, the two have agreed to bring back the famous team. The reunion isn’t completely official without Roman Reigns but it is now closer than ever. Ambrose and Rollins will now face Sheamus and Cesaro for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships.

Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks

A few weeks back, Bayley was the number one contender for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship but it was revealed that she had suffered a shoulder injury in a match against Nia Jax. Two triple threat matches were scheduled and they were won by Banks and Jax. The two faced each other and it was Banks who won the opportunity to face Bliss at WWE SummerSlam.

Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt

Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt will be facing each other at WWE SummerSlam after weeks of interruptions and segments. Bray Wyatt began the feud after interfering and costing Balor his match against Elias Samson. On the latest episode of WWE Raw, Wyatt defeated Balor in a match and then poured a red liquid on him. A rematch was then scheduled for WWE SummerSlam. Balor has said he will bring back the Demon King character, which made its last appearance in the match to determine the first WWE Universal Champion.
