Apple Investigating Reports of iPhone 8 Split Screen Problems

It’s been less than ten days since the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were released but Apple is already investigating two reports of new iPhones splitting along the side.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which bring improvements such as better camera and wireless charging, were released in September 22. The split screen issue is the second issue to be reported by users since its release.

Apple is reportedly investigating the issue but the problem appears to be happening from swollen batteries. Pictures posted on social media show an iPhone 8 Plus split along the side. The phone was charging when it cracked open, according to one of the reports.

The two reports appear to be just a minor problem. The report of the iPhone 8 Plus said that the phone had been in use for less than a week and that it was being charged with an official power adapter and cable.

Earlier this week, users began reporting about an earpiece issue during phone calls. The cause of the disruptive sound is not known but Apple said a few days ago that a fix for the issue was coming.

In another report about the split screen issue, a Japanese user said the iPhone 8 Plus was delivered with the screen split along the side. Pictures show most of the screen detached, with only the top and bottom part holding the screen.

Apple is reportedly investigating but it is believed that the screens are being detached because of battery swelling. In the past, other iPhone releases have arrived with small issues. The latest release has already seen two reports on different issues but they appear to be minor for now.

The iPhone 8, released eight days ago, were two of the phones announced by the company earlier this month. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus bring improvements over the iPhone 7 but they are not Apple’s most expensive phone. The iPhone X, Apple’s phone with all the major improvements, will be released in early November.
