Samsung has not unveiled the Galaxy S9 but the tech world now has a good idea on what the company might be planning to announce in early 2018. The devices could be unveiled some time in February but phone accessory company Ghostek is now showing a design for the S9 through a case listing.
The case listing happens to show the same design that we saw from another case listing just a few days ago by Olixar. The case listing only shows a case for the Galaxy S9, which could arrive without a major feature. The case shows that the phone will bring a single camera. The case listing by Olixar also showed that the Galaxy S9 will have a single camera in the back. The Galaxy S8 did not bring dual rear cameras but that technology is now expected for only the Plus version.
The Olixar case listing showed the S9+ with a dual rear camera while the S9 only featured a single camera. This means that the dual camera will probably be an exclusive for the S9+, similar to what Apple does with the iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
The two case listings have shown that the display will remain the same. The differences appear to be on the back of the devices, with the single and dual camera. The other difference is the fingerprint sensor, which is now below the camera. This year’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 brought the fingerprint sensor next to the camera. A lot of people didn’t like the placement of the fingerprint sensor and it looks like Samsung has decided to make everyone happy. This fingerprint sensor is also on the recently announced Galaxy A8 (2018).
Recent leaks and rumors had mentioned that there would not be major changes for the upcoming flagship. The fingerprint sensor was one of the question marks and it appears that Samsung has made a change. The case listings with the single camera on the Galaxy S9 are a disappointment for those who were planning to buy the smaller version. The two versions of the Galaxy S8 are pretty much the same and many were expecting that to continue.
It’s rumored that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be launched some time in February, most likely right before MWC 2018 or during that event. MWC 2018 will begin on February 26.
