Waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 7? Well, there is some good news as a report is now saying that the phone will be launched in March 2018. Nothing has been confirmed but it’s rumored that Xiaomi will launch the smartphone a little earlier than the previous edition.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus are said to have 5.65-inch and 6.01-inch displays. The highly anticipated Snapdragon 845 processor was announced by Qualcomm just a few days ago and Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed during the event that the next Mi smartphone would be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor. Here are a few other rumors about the device:
- 3,200 mAh battery for the Mi 7 and 3,500 mAh battery for the Mi 7 Plus.
- 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
- Glass and metal design for wireless charging support.
- Dual camera setup.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 was announced at an event in Beijing back in April but it’s rumored that the next edition will launch a little earlier. The Xiaomi Mi 5 was launched at MWC 2016 and with the recent reports, it’s possible that we could see the Mi 7 at MWC 2018. Nothing has been confirmed but the Xiaomi Mi 7 has appeared in many rumors in recent weeks and they all point to an earlier launch date. According to reports, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus may debut together with a price of CNY 2,699 ($407) and CNY 2,999 ($453).
The Xiaomi Mi 7 is one of two flagship smartphones we could see next year. The other is the super popular Mi Mix, which is already appearing in rumors. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was recently released but the third edition could be launched during Q3 or Q4 of 2018. Yesterday, a leak showed the back cover of the phone and a case. The images could be just a prototype but they revealed a few interesting things. One was the cutout for a vertical camera, which looks similar to the one on the iPhone X. The other is the fingerprint scanner, which appears to be on the same spot as previous editions.
In other Xiaomi news, the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update has started rolling out for the Mi A1. The update reportedly weighs around 1.1 GB in size. The company recently announced a permanent price drop on the Mi A1 for the Indian market. The price has been dropped from Rs 14,999 to Rs 13,999 ($217).
