The Nokia 6 (2nd Gen) has been unveiled and the device comes with a number of improvements while still having the same price. The improvements make the Nokia 6 more of a midrange device this time around.
What’s new on the Nokia 6? Well, the design remains quite similar but there are changes on the hardware section. The first change is on the processor, the 2018 Nokia 6 features a Snapdragon 630 processor. Last year’s release has a Snapdragon 430 processor. RAM has been increased from 3GB to 4GB. There is also a USB-C instead of the Micro USB found on the original Nokia 6.
One Small Change
The design is mostly the same, the only big change is the fingerprint sensor, which is now located under the camera and flash of the phone. Last year’s device featured the fingerprint sensor on the front. The device also has a 5.5-inch display.
Here are the rest of the specs:
- 16MP single rear camera.
- 4GB of RAM. The previous Nokia 6 had 3GB of RAM.
- 32GB and 64GB storage options, which are expandable up to 128GB with microSD.
- Android 7.1.1.
The Nokia 6 (2018) is currently available for preorder for CNY 1,499 ($230). The device is only available in China at the moment. The company has not given any details on when the device will be released in other countries or if it will actually be released outside of China. The $230 price is for the 32GB variant.
Nokia 6 and Other Releases
The Nokia 6 (2017) was released in China first but the company didn’t wait very long to unveil the global version. The global version was announced just weeks later at MWC 2017. Since then, the company has announced a number of smartphones. It has also released a new version of the Nokia 3310.
Nokia had a nice comeback in 2017 but its best phone is rumored for 2018. The Nokia 9, which has been mentioned in so many rumors these last few months, is expected to launch in the first half of 2018.
