Report Claims iPhone SE 2 Could Come With a Glass Back and Wireless Charging

It’s been nearly two years since the release of the iPhone SE but rumors haven’t stopped surfacing about a new version. There were so many rumors throughout 2017 that it just seemed like a matter of time before Apple announced it. The tech giant hasn’t done that yet but there is a new report that claims that the iPhone SE 2 could bring major improvements over the iPhone SE.

Tech site Tekz24 claims that the iPhone SE 2 will have a glass back and wireless charging support. The report also claims that the small iPhone will have 2GB of RAM, 32GB and 128GB of storage options, a 1,700mAh battery and 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

The iPhone SE, released on March 2016, was a nice success for the company. The much smaller iPhone arrived with hardware from the iPhone 6s but with the looks of an iPhone 5s. At the time, Apple was focusing on much bigger devices but the success proved that there were still users out there who wanted a small device. The device was also much cheaper than the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which were the latest Apple releases at the time.

Apple has not confirmed an iPhone SE 2 but the company has added wireless charging to its most recent releases, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. This gives iPhone SE fans hope that the company will continue that with the iPhone SE 2.

The iPhone SE was pretty much an iPhone 5s with better hardware but many expect the next one to have more screen and some of the best features we’ve seen on the iPhone 8 and X. Concept images back in September showed an iPhone SE 2 with the back similar to an iPhone SE/5s but with the front of an iPhone X, including the notch.

It’s been recently rumored that the iPhone SE 2 will be launched in the first half of 2018. Market research company TrendForce has claimed that the release will target the midrange smartphone market. A total of three new iPhones are rumored to be coming, including the iPhone SE 2. The iPhone SE was unveiled and released in March 2016 at a starting price of $399. A new version wouldn’t be such a bad idea, especially if the company keeps the price right around the same.
