Sony Announces Three New Smartphones

Sony has announced three new midrange smartphones, the Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and L2. The announcement came ahead of the opening of CES 2018, where the company is scheduled to make an appearance later today. Here are the specs and everything we know about the phone:

Xperia XA2 Ultra

  • 6-inch Full HD display.
  • 23MP single rear camera. Dual 16MP and 8MP front facing cameras. 4K video recording with 120fps slow motion feature.
  • Snapdragon 630 processor.
  • 4GB of RAM.
  • Storage options of 32GB and 64GB.
  • 3,580mAh battery.
  • Fingerprint sensor on the back.
  • Android 8.0.
  • Color options: Black, Silver, Gold and Blue.

The Xperia XA2 Ultra’s big feature is the dual front facing camera, which is not part of the two other smartphones. The Ultra also has a much bigger display than the Xperia XA2, which is quite similar when it comes to hardware and design.

Xperia XA2

  • 5.2-inch Full HD display.
  • 23MP single rear camera. 8MP front facing camera. 4K video recording with 120fps slow motion feature.
  • Snapdragon 630 processor.
  • 4GB of RAM.
  • 32GB of storage.
  • 3,300mAh battery.
  • Fingerprint sensor on the back.
  • Android 8.0.
  • Color options: Pink, Silver, Black and Blue.

The XA2 and XA2 Ultra are quite similar, with the only major differences being on the battery, front cameras and storage options.

Xperia L2

  • 5.5-inch HD display.
  • 23MP single rear camera. 8MP front facing camera. 4K video recording with 120fps slow motion feature.
  • Mediatek MT6737T.
  • 3GB of RAM.
  • 32GB of storage.
  • 3,300mAh battery.
  • Fingerprint sensor on the back.
  • Android 7.1.1
  • Color options: Gold, Black and Pink.

The XA2 and XA2 Ultra are very similar but the L2 is a totally different device. The display does not have a borderless design and the device does not come with the latest version of Android.

The Xperia L2 will be available later this month while the XA2 and XA2 Ultra will be available next month. Sony has not given details on the prices but we’ll probably find out very soon since the releases are weeks away.

The company is one of many scheduled to make an appearance today at CES. Their press conference speech, which will be live streamed through its official website, begins in less than five hours. What do you think about Sony’s new smartphones?
