Marvel Games has announced a deal with Telltale Games, which will bring out a new series of games to consoles and the PC in 2017. Marvel has been looking for a new partnership, which takes time, and now it looks like one has been developed with Telltale Games. The way that Telltale Games tells stories and builds a narrative is what made Marvel interested in starting a partnership, because Marvel is all about the storytelling experience. Marvel has been coming out with a lot of new deals and working with a lot of different companies to create a wider selection of games, with more of an emphasis on the storytelling and graphics.
When it comes to what Marvel is trying to do with games these days, a lot of it is about authenticity, making the right types of characters, and having them in the right types of outfits to fit the narrative. Marvel also likes to make games that have sexy characters and outfits, because sex sells and it helps build excitement for the video game. If a game does not have a sexy element, then it’s harder to get people interested in purchasing at, especially considering the variety of games out there on the market. Telltale is known for making such games as Tales From the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, which all have a lot of comic book-style artistic qualities and features.
Telltale released the following statement on their Blog about the partnership, “Announced this evening in San Francisco, we’re excited to reveal an all-new partnership with the incredible team at Marvel Entertainment,” the developer wrote. “We’ll be teaming up on the development of an upcoming Telltale game series project set to premiere in 2017!”
It is not known right now what type of series Marvel and Telltale Games will be developing together, but it will surely feature a lot of intense and detailed graphics, as well as a good storyline. Marvel and Telltale Games both strive to have some of the most unique and interesting characters and costumes, mixing up classic comic book-style graphics with intricate details through top-of-the-line technology. Telltale declined to comment any more about the deal on the Telltale Blog, but more information will likely come out within the next few months once more details of the series are final. It is also not known yet what type of console this series will be aimed at, whether it’s an exclusive for the Xbox or Playstation or whether it will be a cross-platform series.
