December is eight days in and the companies behind the most popular gaming consoles are preparing to offer great deals and lots of entertaining games. This year’s gaming lineup is packed with great titles from the PS4 and Xbox One. Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) and their Wii U console have released solid titles recently, but it seems like they won’t be making a huge impact during the last days of 2015 as there are really no big games coming out.
The month of December is a great time to increase sales. The Xbox One has Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider. The PS4 has not released exclusives recently but will sell because of titles like Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, Call of Duty and the Uncharted collection. The Wii U does have Xenoblade Chronicles X, which was released four days ago in North America and has received positive reviews, but many believe this title won’t really be the difference maker in the console sales for this month.
Nintendo did release Super Mario Maker and Yoshi’s Woolly World a few months ago. The console also has Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, but that hasn’t received good reviews. Two fan favorites, Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda, were delayed to 2016. One of these titles would have helped a lot during this month.
There are also talks about the NX, which have many wondering if it is worth buying a Wii U now. Nintendo has already said that the NX will not be a successor to the two previous consoles. The Wii U has been out for three years now and it has not sold well. Nintendo’s latest console is not even close to the numbers the Wii had. The Wii sold 100 million units and is considered a huge success for its motion controls, which gave you a different way to play the game.
Many believe the Wii U is on its way out, but experts say the company should not rush the release of the NX. Rumors have the console matching what the PS4 and Xbox One have and others say it will be something different. No one knows when the console will be released, but tech sites have reported that there are some companies already working on titles for the NX. There are also a few others thinking about bringing their games to the NX, after staying away from the Wii U, which cannot run some of the games seen on the PS4 and Xbox One properly.
Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda are still coming to the Wii U, so that will probably sell thousands more soon, but December’s selection is not the best we’ve seen. Are you planning on buying a Wii U soon? Do you own a Wii U? If so, which games do you plan on buying? What are you currently playing? Let us know in the comments.
