John Terry Is Leaving Chelsea

Chelsea defender John Terry will leave the club at the end of the season after he was told they would not be renewing his contract.

The 35 year old defender, who has been with the club for 21 years, was told about the decision before the 1-0 victory over Arsenal. The Chelsea legend said it’s not going to be a fairytale ending and that he is not going to retire with the club. He says he would have loved to stay at the club but they’re moving in a different direction.

Terry is not 100 percent done with the club just yet, he was told that things could change if a new coach came in. As we all know by now, Mourinho was fired last month and replaced by Guus Hiddink.

Debut

Terry made his senior debut in 1998 and was selected as captain six years later. He has been part of Chelsea’s success these last few years, winning a number of trophies. Terry has helped the club win four EPL titles, five FA Cups, three league cups, one Europe League and one Champions League. He was also the captain for England before he retired three years ago.

He doesn’t want to play for another EPL club, so he could be moving to another league next season.

Chelsea’s season has been a disaster so far, the club is far away from Champions League spots for the next campaign. Last season, it was a different story as the club only lost a few games and had a nice lead going into the final games of the league.

Changes?

Mourinho was fired a few weeks ago and the club could make a number of changes when the season is done. Chelsea was said to be interested in John Stones, a central defender for Everton. The team has shown improvements with Hiddink as coach, but they’re still far away from the top four. Chelsea is still in the Champions League, but they will have to face PSG, the team that eliminated them last year.

Chelsea won the league last season and could still win trophies this season. The team will soon face Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup. They are 14 points away from fourth place and need to keep winning to have a chance.

Is this a good decision? Who should Chelsea sign to replace Terry? Let us know in the comments.
