I haven't tried Uncle Zip's beef jerky yet but I will soon. Who cares what shelf life it has because that's for stuff w/preservatives. If it's as good as they say, the only important thing is its natural and fresh. I truly believe that once people try it they can form a group and bulk order it. If there are enough bulk orders and people are willing to wait for a large fresh order as opposed to something sitting on a shelf waiting for buyers, then that would be the way for them to go.
After a few solid months or even years hopefully it'll sustain the momentum.
Sad story especially since Mr. Howell couldn't be around to see it hit the peak.
Wish these guys the best going forward. Hopefully someone at the helm will be so inspired to take his dream all the way. G'Luck!

Thank you for this article as I had wondered how this company was faring after his appearance on Shark Tank. He seemed like such a determined and kind fellow even though adversity followed him. I commend Uncle Zip's for sticking to their guns and making jerky without chemical preservatives (unlike Jeff Foxworthy's jerky), albeit with a shorter shelf life. Consumers are looking for healthier alternatives to the chemical laden crap sold with only the bottom line in mind. May he now rest in peace.
