Valentines day is right around the corner! I REPEAT, VALENTINES DAY is right around the corner! For once in your life do not procrastinate and think ahead about what to get the special people in your life, which better include your dearest mum. Even if you typically don’t exchange gifts with your ‘rents for Valentines Day, let this year be the one where you show how much you truly appreciate everything they have done for you. No matter how BIG or small you choose to make your gift, the woman who gave you life is sure to appreciate it. Below is a list of ideas that will hopefully help the brainstorming begin!
1. Love Your Melon Beanie
Love Your Melon has one mission: to give a hat to every child battling cancer in America. The organization was started by two college students in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Since its start, the organization has caught on like wild-fire, establishing Love Your Melon Ambassadors at major colleges across the nation. Love Your Melon Ambassadors are in charge of spreading the organization’s message while selling and donating the beanies. The hats have also caught the attention of various celebrities such as Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher (seen right). The organization’s website also offers other various Love Your Melon merchandise. This gift really needs no explanation as to why it is the perfect gift for your Mom this Valentines day; she is sure to love the beanie and even more importantly love the message behind it.
2. Crate & Barrel Wine Glasses
PAGING OLIVIA POPE! This is the perfect gift for any woman, regardless if she watches the hit ABC TV series, Scandal. However, in the case that your Mom does watch the television show she is sure to die (from total excitement of course!) when she opens these wine glasses from her now “favorite” child. If you are not a fan of the show and are completely confused, the main character, Olivia Pope, is a total badass who describes her and her team as gladiators who put on “white hats” and solve the Peoples problems. At the end of the day, she drinks a lot of red wine out of beautiful wine glasses (cough, cough). Treat your Mom like the amazing gladiator she is and pick up a few Camille 23 oz. red wine glasses in store or online at Crate & Barrel.
3. Personalized Yankee Candle
Who doesn’t love a good candle? And when it comes to purchasing great candles, EVERYONE knows where to shop, Yankee Candle. Even better, Yankee Candle allows you to design your own personalized candle for one of the most important women in your life this Valentine’s Day. Pick out the candle style, fragrance and photo to create a candle that your Mom will treasure. Make her melt by picking out a photo of you and her or one of your family/grandkids! Make sure to also include a special message that lets her know how much she means to you! She is sure to love it SO MUCH she may be hesitant to use it. Side note: Yankee Candle’s website suggests to purchase the candle by Feb. 5th if you want it delivered by Valentine’s Day using standard shipping.
4. MiracleFold Laundry Folder
Okay, when you first hear this idea you may think that it will be a complete and total BUST. I mean, what mother wants something for Valentine’s Day that helps her do laundry? And that may be true, but for the Mom who loves practical gifts with purpose, there is no better gift. Folding clothes can be very time-consuming and “out of this world” boring, but not with the MiracleFold! It takes less than 10 seconds to use and leaves your clothes folded in the exact same, perfect fashion, which makes organization and storage easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. The device can be purchased at Amazon here and is perfect for folding shirts, pants and towels. If you are on the fence be sure to check out the video below.
5. Magazine Subscription for a Year
This gift is pretty self-explanatory, but is a great option for the Mom who loves celebrity gossip or keeping up with what is going on in the world. There are also lots of different DIY and garden magazines that may also be a good choice. Plus, truthfully who doesn’t like relaxing under a cozy blanket with some morning coffee and picking up a little something new to read? There are lots of different magazine subscriptions to choose from on Groupon or Social Living. The other option is to casually ask what magazines she has been interested in over the years and go online to their website to sign up for a subscription. I would utilize the six month or twelve month subscription so she can look forward to receiving the magazine each month.
