The SJCam SJ4000 is a neat little alternative to the ever-popular GoPro or Xiaomi Yi cameras. The SJ4000+ comes in a 2K edition at 30 fps, but otherwise comes standard as a 1080p/60 frames per second for the standard SJ4000. Everything from 1080p down is recorded at 60 fps.

The SJ4000 comes in a few different models; the base model is the SJ4000, the second model is the SJ4000 WiFi, and the best model is the SJ4000+. The SJ4000 is no longer manufactured due to the SJ4000 WiFi replacing it as the standard model, but can still be found available for purchase.

Inside the large box are three smaller packages, consisting of a plethora of stickers, the backplate, adhesive stickers for any attachments, straps, a USB charger, a cleaning cloth, numerous mounting accessories including bicycle mounts, car mounts and several more, and then the SJCam 4000+ itself. The SJCam 4000+ includes a water shell initially attached to the thing, which is a great purchase since numerous GoPros and all Xiaomi Yi model cameras require waterproof casing to be purchased.

The SJCam 4000 includes an SD Card slot with support of up to 32GB storage. It has a 170 degree camera angle which records at a maximum of 12 megapixels, but otherwise is capable of taking photos at 8MP and 5MP. The shooting modes included are single shot, self-timer at intervals of 2 seconds or 5 seconds. The SJCam 4000 compresses videos at the typical standard of H.264, making it compatible immediately for editing or uploading to YouTube. The battery capacity sits at 900 MAH, which should get around an hour of recording for a typical use. The liquid crystal display is a 1.5 inch screen with no multi-touch included, unfortunately. Photos are stored as a JPEG file, and videos are stored as a MOV file.

The SJ4000 includes an HDMI output port, can serve as a webcam, and is water sistant up to 30 meters. There is a pack available which can save the user some money, including an extra battery, an extra battery charger, and a monopod at a discount. Otherwise, the SJ4000 WiFi (replacing the basic 4000 model now, as the 4000 is no longer manufactured) is available starting at $89.99 in a variety of colors including black, grey, white, blue, yellow, red, bronze, pink, and an out-of-stock limited edition leopard. The SJ4000+ is available for just $10 more, at a $99 price. The main difference between the two is the 4000+’s ability to record in a 2k resolution, but only at 30 frames per second. Of course, there is a USB 2.0 port for recharging and file transfer through a PC, as well as an AV cable output. The SJ4000 also includes a car power adaptor, which is quite surprising as most Xiaomi action cameras do not include such an adaptor and GoPro has only started doing so recently.

The SJ4000 WiFi edition and SJ4000+ offer a WiFi function, which allows for the device to be operated from the Android or iOS companion app.

The SJCam SJ4000 series of cameras offer a great, cheap alternative to GoPros or Xiaomis. Actually, it is thought by action camera enthusiasts that behind the two most popular brands, which are again GoPro and Xiaomi, that SJCam is making a name for itself as a heavy-hitting budget competitor. The SJCam SJ4000 is great and includes a lot of things that most other action cameras do not include in their purchased starter kit, which includes the waterproof casing and all the mounts that the SJ4000 includes. The SJ4000 includes more than eight various mounts and even includes two pieces of 3M adhesive tape for mounting.

For anyone looking for a great budget action camera, the SJ4000 is worth it. For the price of $89, you get a great camera with the typical set of features at a lower price than usual for the action camera market.

Even better right now you can get the SJ4000 for a discounted rate by clicking here.
