All doctors are rich. Maybe not at the beginning of their career, but their earning potential is huge. Everyone knows that. But the guys on this list dwarf even the highest income for your local GP. From the plastic surgeons to the cancer philanthropists, making money for a doctor seems as simple as opening a practice. So how did the richest doctors make so much more money than the average saw bones? Here’s a run down of the top ten richest doctors in the world for 2018. Which oddly enough means America.
Top Ten Richest Doctors in the World 2017
#10 – Paul Nassif $14 Million
Get ready for a fair few plastic surgeons at the bottom of the top. Everyone has hang-ups about their appearance, and we have skilled medical personnel to capitalize on them. Paul Nassif is a Lebanese-American surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty. He further specializes in correcting what he calls “The Ethnic Nose”. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t know what he meant by that, I myself have a fairly pronounced schnozz, so I can see that vein being particularly bountiful. He has also invented a new kind of face-lift that leaves no scars. Dr Nassif rose to fame on various reality shows and hosted “Botched!” along with Terry Dubrow. He will be hosting a follow up show to “Botched” later this year.
#9 – Garth Fisher $15 Million
Our second celebrity plastic surgeon, a good gig if you can get it. Dr Fisher rose to national attention by being the first doctor to appear on “Extreme Makeover”. His specialties are both the face, nose and the breasts. He was listed as one of the best surgeons in his field, He has also been annually listed in the Castle Connolly directory of America’s Foremost Surgeons, a feat achieved by few doctors, less than 1%. His appearance on “Extreme Makeover” has led to much media attention, and he has been interviewed or mentioned in many publications. His services have been secured by entertainers, celebrities and business executives.
#9 – Robert Rey $15 Million
Dr Rey is a plastic surgeon to the stars, I’m beginning to see a theme here. He became a house hold name in 2004 after being a featured doctor on “Dr 90210”, a show about plastic surgeons in the wealthy Beverly Hills area of California. Robert Rey was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His family moved to America when he was 12. His parents split up not long after and he was adopted into a Mormon family in Utah. He describes his father as a monster, and one he was glad to leave. He is currently a medical correspondent for The Insider and NBC4 News. He was also the medical consultant for the David Fincher film “Se7en” and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He has appeared in numerous television shows before “Dr 90210”.

He is marred to Lisa Hochstein, who appeared in “The Real Housewives of Miami”. He appeared on the first season of “Miami Slice” on Bravo.
#6 – Terry Dubrow $30 Million
Plastic surgeon and television personality, more so than most on this list, Dr Dubrow has made a name for himself as the face of acceptable plastic surgery. Let’s be honest for a minute, there is still a social stigma attached to cosmetic surgery. Terry Dubrow has attempted to remove this black mark with his work on the show “Good Work” alongside Rupaul. He also co-starred on “Botched” with fellow cosmetic surgery millionaire Paul Nassif. Later this year he should be appearing on the “Botched” spin of “Botched By Nature”. He also performed the procedures on “Bridalplasty”, a reality show where a group of women competed to win a a wedding and transformative plastic surgery procedure.
#5 – James Andrews $100 Million
Our first non-plastic surgeon! Dr James Andrews made his millions by specializing in ligament repair for sports stars. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University, where he was an athlete. He completed his residency at Tulane Medical School and his fellowships at the University of Virgina School of Medicine and the University of Lyon. He is well known in sports medicine as the best orthopedic surgeon in the business. He is a founding member of the Health South Sports Medicine Council and was a key player behind the successful Go For It! Roadshow. He serves as the team doctor for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and NFL’s Washington Redskins.
#4 – Gary Michelson $1.4 Billion
Board certified orthopedic spinal surgeon, inventor and philanthropist, Dr Gary Michelson has made major contributions to his field throughout his career. He practiced medicine for over twenty five years before retiring from private practice to focus on his philanthropy. He was unhappy with the success rate of spinal surgeries early in his career. So he took it upon himself to correct that. He currently holds the patent for a wide variety of devices and methods for corrected spinal injuries. He sold the majority of his patents to Medtronic for around $1 billion dollars. Since his doctoring days Gary Michelson has created many non-profit philanthropic organizations, and has gifted large sums of money to various universities.

Phillip Frost may be known to many as a successful entrepreneur due to his success in business. That said he earned a M.D. from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine prior to starting his career working with the US Public Health Service & as a professor at the Univeristy of Miami School of Medicine. After Spoending around 10 years working in these roles he founded he purchased his first company “Key Pharmaceuticals Inc.” early in 1972.
14 years later he sold the same company for $600 million to the renowned Schering-Plough Corporation. He donates vast sums of money to various organizations and universities.
Dr Phil – 2018 Net Worth: $320 Million
Full name Phillip Calvin McGraw, Dr Phil was a successful clinical psychologist before he threw it all away to become an even more successful talk show host. Since Dr Phil was only a clinical psychologist (not a psychiatrist) he never actually possessed a medical degree and thus can’t obtain a medical license to practice. That said in 1990 he formed, with Lawyer Gary Dobbs, Courtroom Sciences, Inc. The firm specialized in trial consulting and it was through them that McGraw came into contact with Oprah Winfrey. He ceased to practice psychology when he founded the company. He began appearing weekly on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” from 1998 onwards.
