I’m not sure if you actually checked up on Ello before writing this but the site is no longer invite-only. Rather than the previous system of needing a friend to send you invite codes, now anyone can input their email address if they want to join and they’ll immediately be sent an email which allows them to sign up. So while Ello is in beta, it’s not accurate to say that “it is only usable to select members who have been accepted into the beta to help point out where changes are needed.” That makes it sound like the users of the site are just there to test it, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s also not correct to say that you won’t see content from a user you haven’t followed in your feed. Just like with Twitter’s retweets, on Ello if someone you’re following reposts a piece from another user, even if you don’t follow them, it will show up in your feed.

I was looking to see how Ello was doing. This article really didn’t help with that. In fact the title really has no real relationship to the story.
Also, whoever edited this (I suspect no-one) needs a good slap on the wrists. This was a real slog to read.

How? How do I get the invitation? Where do I go to get it?

“If you don’t want to join the party than Budnitz says “go f— yourself.”

Is this improper grammar? I have no idea what she means. Should she say “then” instead of “than”? If so, why would Budntiz say go f— yourself if you don’t want to join? Why so rude?
