I cannot overstate the importance of a good nights sleep. It’s great for your health and your demeanor. I’ve slept in some fairly uncomfortable places over the years, so believe me when I say a good mattress can be the difference between waking up sore and tired and waking up refreshed and ready to tackle the worst the day has to offer. I thought I had a good mattress too. Not too hard, generally easy to fall asleep in, but I soon realized how wrong I was when I tried out a Saatva. The home grown U.S. company makes bespoke quality products at exceptional prices. With some ingenious technology innovations in its design, coupled with that excellent price, I don’t expect you’ll have to go far when looking for your next mattress.

About Saatva
Saatva is an e-commerce site specializing in luxury mattresses. Their focus on providing high quality goods at low prices, along with some excellent customer service, has propelled them to the forefront of the industry. The company was founded in 2011 by entrepreneurs Ron Rudzin and Ricky Joshi. The name Saatva is derived from a Sanskrit word for pure. Their 2015 revenue was in excess of $120 million, not bad for such a relatively young firm. It is believed that during his 2015 visit to the states Pope Francis slept on a Saatva mattress. Good enough for the Pope folks. Let’s take a look at the product in question.
The Saatva Mattress Build Quality & Materials
First a look at the surface. All the Saatva mattresses covers are made of 100% cotton, giving them excellent breathability. I switched from poly-cotton blend bedding to pure cotton not two weeks ago, and the difference in comfort levels is more than a little bit noticeable, I highly recommend you do the same. The icing on this cake of a product comes in the form of a euro-style pillow top. I’m sure you’re familiar with a regular pillow top, a section at the top of the mattress that sits up and out, padded for comfort. Personally, I find them unsightly. The beauty of the Euro-style topper is the padding lies flush with the mattress. The Saatva provides all the comfort of a standard pillow top, with the added aesthetic of a clean flat mattress. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Who cares what the thing looks like so long as it’s comfortable?” and I would agree, but this feature is one of many that show the level of dedication and care that went into the construction here.

And speaking of construction. The image on the right really doesn’t do this justice. You can see five distinct layers, each with a purpose to enhance the comfort of the user. At base we have the foundation layer that uses steel coils for overall support, on top of that is their special individually wrapped contour coils. These coils are wrapped in a layer of foam for added comfort, but the way these thing form along the contours of your body, making sleeping in any position a joy, is something that has to be felt to really understand. As if that weren’t enough we have a high quality memory foam layer on top, adding lumbar support, if you have back issues you know how crucial that is. Rounding out the construction is an edge support system, which brings some much needed durability to the package, making sure the Saatva mattress remains in top condition for as long as possible.
Saatva Overall Review
Now you may be asking yourself, “But how does it feel”? Well I only tried out the Plush Soft variant and I have to say I loved it. Granted, I’m more use to sleeping on what is essentially cardboard by comparison, but the wonderful feeling of being enveloped in pure comfort is hard to oversell. That level of plushness isn’t for everyone though, which is why Saatva offers three variants on this mattress. The aforementioned Plush Soft version, a middle of the road Luxury Firm and the regimented, but no less comfortable for it, Firm. The company site offers advice on which to buy depending on how you like to sleep. For back or side sleepers they advise the Plush Soft or the Luxury Firm, which is good for all three sleeping positions, and for stomach sleepers they say the Firm is your best bet. I tend to toss and turn for a good thirty minutes before falling asleep though, and have to say the Plush Soft works for all three, even if I felt a little bit uncomfortable on my stomach.
Some sites will advise you on The Firmness Scale, and I can see why. We all like to see things quantified, set in stone. But I can confirm that there are at least three of them, and none of them are codified. Going by the information available on the Saatva site, and this article of course, should be enough to tell you which of the three is right for you. One of the many benefits to an online store is the wealth of customer feedback available for reading, you can find both positive and negative reviews in spades on the official site.
Saatva Mattress – Pricing & Returns Policy
Now we come to the numbers. Saatva has made a big deal about the difference in prices between retail stores and their own site, and it’s easy to see why. They claim, and I have been unable to confirm, that to buy one of their mattresses on the high street would set you back the guts of $2000. A hefty sum, especially when they offer and entry level price of $899. That’s for the queen. The price for their twin is a mere $599. These numbers are direct from the site. They offer a variety of other services, for a price. They offer foundations, frames, mattress removal and even foundation removal too. That level of service is a rarity these days, but you will be paying a premium for it. See the price breakdown by size below for more information;
Size | Mattress Price | Price with Foundation | Dimensions |
Twin | $599 | $749 | 38″ x 75″ |
Twin XL | $699 | $849 | 38″ x 80″ |
Full | $849 | $1049 | 54″ x 75″ |
Queen | $899 | $1149 | 60″ x 80″ |
King | $1299 | $1599 | 76″ x 80″ |
Cal King | $1299 | $1599 | 72″ x 84″ |
The other thing to consider is the shipping costs. The standard rate is $99, holds true for most of the U.S. With the comparatively low cost and high quality, you’d think that Saatva could have called it a day, but no. We have some of the best customer service policies I have ever read. Say you buy the bed, sleep in it a few nights, but decide that it isn’t for you, maybe it’s too soft, too hard or too just right. Whatever your reasons, so long as you are within seventy five, count ’em, Saatva will refund you and come pick the mattress up free of charge. Add to that a fifteen year warranty and you’re covered for every eventuality.

Saatva Mattress Conclusion
The Saatva mattress is one of the most impressive mattresses out in the world today. It has all the things I love, and a nice blend of old school tech and new school design sensibilities. If the price were a little lower, or delivery was free it would be the best in the world, instead it is more of a niche product, but one I recommend you buy if you can.
Saatva Mattress Coupon Codes & Discounts
We did the “Googling” for you to track down any available discounts and coupon codes to save you money on the Saatva Mattress.  Now for the bad news, Saatva doesn’t offer discounts for their mattresses.  They explain on their website why (hint the reasoning is that they believe their mattresses are the highest quality and best value already.)
Considering that you’ll likely have this product for a couple of decades though, a little over $60 a year doesn’t sound so bad. That said you can get the best current pricing available by visiting them direct by clicking here to apply the best current price the current price.
Remember when I referred to cotton sheets? I really wasn’t kidding about the difference a high quality fitted sheet can make to your comfort. I had a quick look on amazon and was able to find a 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet for $19.01. I have a few 1k thread count sheets that I use, so I imagine that 1500 is half again as good. 1500 Thread Count Wrinkle & Fade Resistant Egyptian Cotton Sheet
