Earlier this month, Apple announced its new iPhone and shocked the world when it removed the headphone jack. This had been rumored for months but some were still shocked to see that Apple had decided to do this. The removal of the headphone jack has been talked about ever since the announcement and while the phone brings an adapter, some are trying to find it on their new iPhones.
Just days after the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a video posted by YouTuber user TechRax showed him drilling a hole where the headphone jack would usually be. The headphones fit perfectly into the hole he drilled on the iPhone 7. TechRax, who has a YouTube channel where he posts videos destroying the latest smartphones in creative ways, has already tested a few of the new iPhone 7s.
The video of him drilling a hole in the iPhone 7 has more than ten million views and while it obviously didn’t seem like a good idea by just reading the title and looking at the thumbnail of the video, some people have tried it. The video shows him putting the headphones on the phone and music still being heard. It clearly showed that it didn’t work but some have decided to try it anyways.
His iPhone 7 kept working after he drilled the hole but some people are saying on the comments that their devices are no longer working. The video was obviously a joke but it appears that some people thought the video was serious and drilled the hole into their new iPhones.
The video description doesn’t say it’s a joke but if you watch all of the video you can see that it didn’t work with the headphones in the device and the loud music still playing.
TechRax has hundreds of videos of him destroying technology in creative ways and while the iPhone 7 headphone jack video was not serious, some appear to be losing their phone after trying this idea. Trying this doesn’t make sense either, the new iPhone brings an adapter for this. The worst part about this is that it could destroy it completely or not allow it to function correctly. Oh and drilling a hole on your device isn’t covered under warranty.
