Introducing the LOFTEK 50W LED Flood Light
If you’re a homeowner, you may have seriously considered purchasing some outdoor lighting for your back or front yard. There is plenty that someone can do in a yard during the daytime, but when night falls, your options become limited. One of the most common, inexpensive, and effective outdoor lighting solutions comes in the form of a flood light. Despite what the name may suggest, a flood light isn’t intended exclusively for disaster relief. Flood lights are compact, hardy lights that can be affixed to different outdoor structures to thoroughly light a larger area. (The term ‘flood light’ comes from the idea of the light “flooding” an area.) Many people use them to light their porches, yards, and gardens.
If you’re looking for a good “starter” flood light, where do you begin? As with any other form of hardware, it’s important that you purchase something that is well-made and effective, without breaking the bank. LOFTEK’s 50 W LED flood light is one of the best flood lights currently available to budget buyers, and it is packed with a multitude of additional features that makes it an even more desirable buy. In this article, I’m going to talk about some of these features, and how they can be put into use. I’m also going to talk about how well the flood light actually functions in practice, and tell you whether or not I think it’s worth what you’re paying for it. Without further ado, let’s illuminate this situation a little further.
- 50,000 hour lifespan
- Illuminates an area up to 8 m²
- Capable of outputting a total of 16 different color tones
- Includes remote control and accompanying instruction manual
- NOVA Timer Setting
- Durable construction means the light is waterproof, dust resistant, drop resistant, and temperature resistant
I mentioned before that it’s important for your flood light to be durable. (Whenever you have any kind of equipment sitting outside, it’s important that it be capable of withstanding the elements.) LOFTEK’s flood light is comprised of a combination of tempered glass and die-cast aluminum to make for a strong overall light. The light is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, drops, and vibration. The product has an overall lifespan of around 50,000 hours, which breaks down to around 6 years of total product use. That’s a pretty good lifespan at this price point. It’s worth noting that that math works out if you’re using the product non-stop. Most people use outdoor lighting much more infrequently than that. Not to mention, the timer setting with this product makes it to where you can finely control exactly how long you want your light to be on, which can reduce the likelihood of leaving it on on accident and wasting energy.
In general, I think that LOFTEK’s flood light gives the user a lot of room for customizing their own experience. One of the cooler features to this product is its ability to display different colors. With RGBW LED capabilities, the light is able to produce 16 different tones. Not only that, but you’re also able to tweak how you want the light to flash. The product comes with modes like flash, strobe, fade, and smooth. These may seem like redundant features if you plan on using this flood light in, say, a construction site, but I think that these sorts of features are perfect for someone who is looking to use the product as a light source during an outdoor party, or for a stage. All in all, when you look at technical specs alone, LOFTEK’s 50W LED flood light is a well-designed, user-friendly, versatile lighting tool. As with any other piece of hardware, however, there’s no guarantee that all of these pieces actually work well together in practice.
How well does it actually work?
The reviews are in for this product, and I’ll cut right to the chase for you. They’re very good. LOFTEK’s flood light is sturdy, easy to use, and it can help to serve a variety of purposes, both in and out of doors. However, there are a few important things to note about the product. To begin with, this is obviously a flood light. There is a very distinct difference between the light quality that you’ll see out of a flood light versus the light quality that you’ll see out of a spotlight. As you can probably ascertain from the names, a spotlight is meant to shine light on a very concentrated area, whereas a flood light is meant to shine light on a broader area. With that in mind, if you’re looking to brightly light a large area with this flood light, you may have to consider purchasing multiples. Flood lights as a whole emphasize surface area over brightness, so if that’s an issue, you may want to look into something else.
Even with that considered, though, a single LOFTEK unit should more than suffice in the majority of lighting situations. It is still a very bright light, and from 6 meters away, it should thoroughly illuminate an area of 8 meters². Unless you’re looking to light up a large backyard, the perimeter of a large fence, or a huge field, I really don’t see any reason why you would need any more than just a single light. All in all, this flood light performs remarkably well under a variety of different conditions. The different colored lights and modes are fun, the unit itself is tough and well-made, and the provided remote control makes for an intuitive and altogether satisfying user experience. However, for some people, it can be difficult to part with $100 for something like a flood light. Even with all of this in mind, is the LOFTEK 50W LED flood light actually worth what you’re paying?
Is it worth it?
I personally think that this product is more than worth its sticker price. Although there are certainly more “affordable” options available, I feel that LOFTEK’s light is unparalleled in terms of durability, versatility, and overall quality. This isn’t something that you have to worry about breaking with a few months of use. The product is built to last, and all you have to do is hold it in your hands to realize how well-made these things actually are. Not only that, but I think that the investment that you’re making is especially wise when you consider how long the average lifespan of these lights are. By my estimation, the average user should get well over 10 years of usage out of a single unit. When you break it down, you’re really only spending $10 per year of use. I’m of the opinion that that’s a really fair rate.
If you’re looking for an outdoor light fixture, I encourage you to explore your options and find which kind of light source is right for your specific situation. However, if you’re absolutely positive that a flood light is right for you, then I can’t recommend LOFTEK’s flood light enough. It may be a little more expensive than you’d like, but I think that you will find that the product is worth every penny.
