Just a few days ago, it was reported that phones such as the Moto Z and the latest Moto G would receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. But now, the company has released a list of all the phones that will be getting the update in the next few months. The list confirms some of last year’s phones and users have to be very happy about this as rumors had previously mentioned that the update would not be released for some of Motorola’s smartphones released in 2015.
The list, which was revealed on the official Motorola blog, has 15 smartphones. The Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen) were rumored to be the first to receive the update and the blog has confirmed that. The update will start being released in Q4 for these two phones. Q4 has just begun, so Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen) users won’t have to wait until next year.
The Moto G (4th Gen), which has three versions this year, will all receive the update. Five Moto Z smartphones will also be receiving the update, the Moto Z, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play and the Moto Z Play Droid.
The Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2, which were released in October 2015, are also part of the list. The Nexus 6, first released in 2014, is the oldest smartphone to have made the Motorola list for the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
The Moto X smartphones that were released in 2015 will also receive the update. This is good news for users of those phones as it was rumored that phones such as the Moto X Pure Edition would not receive the update. Last year’s Moto X lineup had the Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Style, Moto X Play and Moto X Force. All four will receive the update.
The Moto G (3rd Gen) does not appear on the list and it seems like the smartphone will not receive the update after rumors had previously mentioned that it might. Two days ago, Google announced Android 7.1 Nougat, which adds a few more features to Android 7.0. This version of Android will first arrive to the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
