While the “wave” is more fun, the reflector seemed to enhance range slightly more. In terms of overall value, if you happen to live in an apartment or small to medium sized home, the lower priced TP-LINK option may prove to be the better option, as the performance would be essentially identical for a lower price. If one has a larger residence or network however, the Asus may be worth the extra money.

One drawback for both models is the lack of “root” access allowed to network managers, as Google tends to keep most the of the internal workings of this device close to the chest.
