Been a while since I got to review a mattress, not since the Live and Sleep a few months back. Now that Black Friday is here a fair number of firms are screaming, or the internet equivalent of screaming, about their discount. One ad that caught my eye was the Ameena one. Mostly because I had never heard of them. So I did a little digging and found myself another home grown US product ripe for the reviewing.
While the vast majority of the mattresses I review are from young upstart companies, sick of the standard business model and ready to provide a cheaper alternative to the market, the Ameena is an offshoot of US-Mattresses.com. They took the standard show room model and brought it online many years ago, and while too few of their products match the prices seen in the direct to consumer competition, the Ameena seeks to remedy that.
A now classic three tiers of foam build, with a few modern twists and some top notch materials, let’s see if mattress tickles your fancy.

About Ameena
Ameena is not primarily a direct to consumer mattress company, they are part of an expanded family of mattress firms, this venture representing their latest. I was a little disappointed to discover this, but it does mean that Ameena, by extension, has been involved in much philanthropy over the years. From habitat for Humanity to The Salvation Army there are few who haven’t benefited from the businesses success. Ameena themselves are involved in mattress donations too, a one for one policy. For each mattress sold they donate one. While I want to ask some questions regarding profit margins, I won’t and will commend them instead.
Ameena Mattress Build Quality & Materials
Always start at the beginning, that’s what I say. So with these mattress articles we first look at the topper material. There are three things we look for, porousness, durability and and comfort, and the Ameena has all three. There stretch Knit cover is made of an unknown material, still waiting on word back on that, but it does seem quite durable, and the mattress does not sleep hot, so it must be dissipating the heat well. The biggest downside for me is that while you can take the cover off, it is not machine washable, being liable to shrink. Not a huge issue, as you can spot clean with a little club soda, but still something to consider.
Onto the construction, and as I mentioned, the Ameena uses the now familiar three tiers of foam design. At base we have 6″ of support foam, dense and able to keep you suspended. on top of that is 2″ of gel infused memory foam. If you know anything about mattresses it is that memory foam, while comfortable, tends to retain heat unless treated. Here the treatment is gel inserts, and they are my favorite solution to the issue. It is very nearly as conforming as regular memory foam, but much cooler. The mattress is topped with 2″ of what they call reflex foam. In reality it is likely a variant of either latex of Avena foam, it moves very like it. This top layer moves far more quickly than memory foam, so you aren’t left in an odd depression while the mattress re conforms. It is also quite cooling, aiding the heat dissipation.
Ameena Overall Review
Overall a great build, nothing too revolutionary, but when your company gives as much back as Ameena you can afford to make a mattress that is merely amazing, rather than spectacular. The support foam is a little short, making this more on the soft side, so if you have back issues you might be better served by a firmer mattress.
Ameena Mattress – Pricing & Returns Policy
This is my favorite section, the price. It allows be to write off certain mattress for pricing themselves out of the market. Not the case here, as the Ameena is one of the best priced mattresses out there. A Queen will set you back $800, making it only slightly more expensive than the Leesa, and that doesn’t include the discount.

Now onto the warranty, and I love the mattress industries practices in this regard. usually we would see a 10 year warranty, but the Ameena comes with a full 15 years of coverage, and remember mattress warranties cover depression as well, so if your mattress gains a permanent sag of more than 1″ within 15 years they will replace your mattress for free. Making this warranty all the more valuable is the longevity of the company behind Ameena, est 2000. There is also the returns policy, you have 120 days to test out the mattress, if you don’t like it within that time they will donate it for you locally and grant a full refund. Can’t say fairer than that.
Ameena Mattress Conclusion
In the end, this is the complete package. Even within the mattress industry few companies can boast so long a warranty, or so long a test period.
