You have to love Black Friday, well you don’t, but I sure do. There is always something new that can be added to your entertainment system, whether it is a bigger better monitor, some upgraded hardware, or even just access to a good media service. For me the big add is the Surround Sound System. It radically changes the way I interact with all of my media, from video games to movies. There are few things more immersive than playing a first person shooter, hearing the enemies behind you firing and lobbing and shouting. Knowing where to move exclusively through the medium of sound.
So, I have made it my task to find you a few good deals on surround sound systems, from 5.1 to 7.1 I have taken a look through all of the deals available and narrowed it down to a select few. There are a few things that need to be known before investing in a home theater audio system. Set up is long, arduous and difficult, and doesn’t end when you have everything plugged in. While most media will automatically sync to your fancy new set up, some won’t, so manual speaker set up would be required. Most of the time the solution is easy to find though. If you find these items a little too far outside your price range, or you want something that is for personal use only, check out our article on headphones this black friday, as many these days come with simulated 7.1 surround sound. I own a pair and they are quite nice.
So let’s get to it, break these deals down.
Best Home Theater Surround Sound Deals Black Friday 2016
- Monoprice Black Friday: Premium Select 5.1 Channel Home Theater Satellite Speakers & Subwoofer for $79.99 – This price is absolutely amazing for this set up. The audio quality is good, not amazing, but it makes up for it with its size. If you have a premium on space, but still want a full 5.1 system this is a great option. The satellite speakers are very compact, as is the sub woofer, which manages to be both small and quite bass-y. Well worth a look.
Harman Audio Black Friday: Haman HKTS 16 Elegant 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System for $179.99 – This is the cream of the discount crop right here. The audio is crisp where it needs to be and like velvet everywhere else. If you want the bass to vibrate not only your own skull but also the skull of your neighbors, then this is what you are looking for. It is a little bigger than the Premium Select from Monoprice, so bear that in mind if you go for it.
PC Richard & Son Black Friday: Bose Cinemate 15 Home Theater Speaker System for $349.97 – Bose have a reputation in the audio industry, one of excellence and craftsmanship. Make no mistake, this 2.1 set up is expensive, but if you have a tiny living room you are unlikely to find a better quality system in this form factor. The speaker bar works hard to provide the illusion of surround sound, and it does its job very well indeed. A great option for the space conscious.
Monoprice 5.1 Surround sound speakers $69 – A tiny little system that does its best to provide you with an enviable audio set up. It fails, to some extent, but this price is too good to ignore. A full 5.1 set up, with the smallest speakers you have ever seen. Everything about this set up leaves much to be desired, but if you are going from 1.0 sound to this then the difference is night and day. A great option for those who want to experience a little of what the world of surround sound can offer.
Best Buy Samsung – 6 Series 1000W 5.1-Ch. 3D / Smart Blu-ray Home Theater System $399.99 Black – Now we are in the realm of the big boys. The likes of the Monoprice system, while cheap, are so at the expense of power, and if you are looking for power you will find it here. This Samsung options from best buy is at a fairly decent discount, 33%, and if you opt in you are getting the best money can buy at this level. It is not cheap to run though, with a 1000W power draw, but I think it is well worth the sacrifice.
Best Buy Samsung – 5 Series 5.1-Ch. 3D / Smart Blu-ray Home Theater System Black $249.99 – My final option, and in many ways my favorite. It cannot boast the audio quality of the 6 Series surround sound set up, but it far surpasses the Harman, and falls only a mite short of the excellent Bose. The complete set of 5.1 speakers, with a digital focus on 3D audio rendering make the Samsung pair some of the best value speakers on the market, and certainly one to consider when you are out hunting the deals.
There are a few more deals to be found out there, but none of them caught my eye. We start to head into the realm of diminishing returns, where spending that extra $100, even on Black Friday when $100 is worth a whole lot more than usual, gains you less than you might like. I hope you find something here to interest you, and for me the Samsung 5 Series is the best of the bunch. The price is very affordable, 5.1 is an excellent set up and the audio quality falls into that nice area between amazing and astounding. We would all be hard pressed to notice a difference.
So happy hunting folks and remember, the buddy system saves lives.
