You see the snow outside? Yeah, that’s right. Winter is coming, and with it all manner of savings. No other time of the year can boast the prices of Black Friday, when the world becomes a capitalist dream land, and your wildest fantasies can come true, assuming you dream of owning expensive camera equipment. Today i will be taking a look at B&H Photo Video, the New York based optical specialist.

B&H Photo Video was founded back in 1973, by Blimie Schreiber and her husband, Herman. The firm is the largest non chain camera shop in the US, with only one store, in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. The company prides itself on the knowledgeability of their staff and the quality of their merchandise. The Ninth Avenue store is a sight to behold, two floors filled to the brim with top of the line products, but the bulk of heir sales is now online. The site is well maintained, and their shopping App is one of the best on the market.

Another firm without a leak yet, but they do have the bulk of their Black Friday Deals available online for perusal. I have taken a look through everything, and culled the list down into what i think are the best deals. If photography and video is you passion, or you want to delve into the world, then you can’t go wrong with B&H.

Best B&H Photo Video 2016 Black Friday Deals

Here’s a mixed bag, though actual bags will be coming later. There is so much hardware to choose from, so I focused here on a blend, a few lenses, a camera etc. Just a few deals that look fantastic value for money.

  • Oben CT-2491 Carbon Fiber Tripod was $499.95, Now $299.95 –
A high quality tripod this. Carbon fiber is one of the strongest materials out there, so this thing can take a beating and still functions well. A must ave for outdoor photography.
  • Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens was $599, Now $299 –
I’m not well versed in the world of aperture and lens, but the mark downs on these items has me enthused. Both this Canon and the Tamron are excellent value for money, and they reviewed well.
  • Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO Lens for Canon Was $629, Now $549 –
  • Sennheiser MKH-416 Short Shotgun Interference Tube Mic & Zoom H6 Handy Recorder Kit Was $1399, Now $1199 –
Audio recording is more my wheel house. My equipment is getting a little rusty, so I may have to snap this deal up myself.
  • Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens Was $549, Now $399 –
Excellent savings on a great camera.

A wider range than this exists, but again, a focus on camera related storage rather than broad spectrum. there are external drives, and ram and all manner of other things on sale too.

  • SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro CompactFlash Memory Card $47.95
  • Lexar 64GB Professional 1066x CompactFlash Memory Card $57.75
  • Sony 64GB UHS-I SDXC Memory Card SanDisk 64GB Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive $41.95 – USB 3.0 is fast as blazes, and well worth investing in if you have the hardware that supports it.
Professional Cameras

For all you budding filmmakers out there, these are the cameras to get. If you want to try your hand at directing, then you’re going to need the right tools.

  • Canon EOS C100 Mark II Was $5999, Now $4499
  • Canon EOS C500 4K Cinema Camera was $9999, Now $6999 –
I love this thing, the recorded image quality is amazing, even if not all places can display it properly, in all its 4K glory.
  • JVC GY-HM650 ProHD Mobile News Camera was $4995, Now $3995

Seen as Apple are really dragging their feet getting us the details of their Black Friday sale it falls to other stores to provide us with some OSX goodies. A nice selection here, and very well priced.

  • Apple 13.3″ MacBook Air Laptop Was $999, Now $899 –
10% off a MacBook is fantastic, the things are so expensive than even so small a percentage takes a fair chunk out of the price. If you have been hankering for one, now is a great time to buy.
  • Apple 15.4″ MacBook Pro Laptop Was $1999, Now $1799
  • Apple 13.3″ MacBook Pro Laptop Was $1499, Now $1349
  • Lenovo 15.6″ Ideapad 310 Series Was $499, Now $349 – The only non Apple laptop on the list, and honestly it is not quite as good. Regardless, it is a good budget option.

Think less clothes, and more bags, things with which to carry your brand new hardware. Some nice items here, and the mark downs are amazing.

  • Cotton Carrier Camera Vest with Side Holster (Black) $189
  • Lowepro StreamLine 250 Shoulder Bag Was $49.95, Now $19.95
  • Think Tank Photo CityWalker 30 Messenger Bag Was $164.95, Now $79.95 –
Probably my favorite of the deals here. Look at that saving. the bag itself is stylish as hell, and hardy too. I like a little longevity in my purchases, and if you go for this option you’ll have a real bag for life.
  • Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW Camera Bag Was $99.95, Now $49.95

This doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of it. I have already taken a look at Newegg and Microsoft Store, so I shied away from repeating myself, but B&H Photo Video dabble in all things electronics. I have a link to the wide array of deals here, not only Black Friday deals, but broad spectrum as well. It looks to be an amazing season over on 9th avenue.
