BLUBOO Maya Max Review – How it Stacks Up in the Market

It may be up for debate whether big screens are here to stay but as of right now they are the hottest ticket in the phone market. This is leading to a large amount of Chinese based companies to develop and bring options to the market. One of the best additions in our opinion is the new 6.0-inch Maya Max by BLUBOO which was first launched in August of 2016.

Why is the BLUBOO Maya Max our top choice for large screen chinese smartphones? Well for starters the device is built around a powerful yet affordable processor from MediaTek called the MTK6750. The MTK6750 is the best of both worlds as it essentially takes the benefits from the MT6755 and MT6753 while adding in 8 Cortex A53 cores (clocking in an impressive 1.5Ghz), 4G Cat6 support, a Mali-t860 GPU, and last but not least support for up to 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM… Not a bad config for a handheld device huh?

As for the display the Maya Max is no slouch either. It comes with a 6.0 inch HD JDI display with OGS Technology. What does that mean? Well basically the screen has sharper and richer visuals due to higher color sensitivity and transparency. Also like most touch screens it has multi-touch support but something great is the fact that it has advanced touch recognition so it can respond to both wet fingers and users wearing gloves. The touch panel is one of the most accurate and sensitive touch experiences in the price range. As for the battery life on the device it’s top notch due to the 4200mAh battery with support for quick charging.

Next up is the camera. This is the one area where the Maya max doesn’t knock it out of the park. The camera is rather pedestrian with a 13 Megapixel back camera with the Sony 214 sensor and a 8 Megapixel camera in the front. That’s not to say these aren’t good specs but they are pretty much average for the price range.

One cool addition is the BLUBOO Beautysnap app which comes free with all their phones. It allows selfie snappers to add a variety of effects to their pictures with stuff like “beautification” filters, age and sex recognition, and top notch “enhance” modes. So you can grab your phone, set that picture timer, and take professional quality selfies in seconds.

Some other features that set the BLUBOO Maya Max apart from the competitors is the VoLTE tech that allows for the highest quality voice and video calls over a 4G network. The NXP speaker which is rare for a product in this price range, the rear fingerprint reader, double sided mute button, a Type-C USB port, off screen gesture ability and the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box. When you compare these features with other phones in this price range it takes the cake.

I guess the only area left to cover is the materials used for the device itself. The device is actually pretty sharp (from an aesthetic standpoint) being made of 6000 series aluminum alloy rather than cheap alternatives like most phones in this price range. The phone has a nice brushed metal look and clean curvy design perfect for both looks and functionality.
