EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Review

Back in the day, everything used to be about paper. People would have file cabinets and safes, and these things were used to ensure that records and photos and anything else on paper would be stored in a secure and convenient place. However, as computers became popular, paper records sort of lost their luster. Today, people typically care a lot more about hard drives than they care about file cabinets. Most media and documents these days are stored digitally, and they’re accessed digitally. This is more convenient in a lot of ways, but it’s also sort of riskier. When you lose a physical file, there’s a chance that you could find it somewhere else, later. That really isn’t the case with digital files. Once something is gone, it’s gone forever.

At least, that’s what it seems like. If you’ve deleted a file on accident, it may comfort you to know that it isn’t actually lost forever. With a physical hard drive, data isn’t erased as soon as you delete it from your computer. It takes a little while for it to be overwritten. If you’re able to nab that data before it’s overwritten (even if it’s inaccessible by your computer) then you can recover it. There is software out there that is specifically meant to do this. In this article, I’m going to be talking about a particular data recovery software called EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. I plan on talking about the individual features of this software, while also providing you with a brief tutorial as to how you would go about actually using it. Obviously, I’m also going to provide my opinion regarding whether or not this software is actually worth your time and money. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Software Details

Price: Free, with additional payment tiers

  • Allows you to recover deleted files including photos, documents, videos, audio, and more
  • Capable of recovering entire lost partitions
  • Supports data recovery from hard drives, storage media, servers, and more
  • Scanning results can be easily imported and exported

So right off the bat, let me talk about the standard features of this software. In the free version of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, you get all of the essential features that you would probably expect from a software like this. You can recover a wide variety of file types from a wide variety of different storage types. Whether you need to get a photo off of an SD card or a document from a hard drive, this software will help you get that job taken care of. You’re even capable of restoring entire partitions, which is convenient if you accidentally formatted a partition while you were managing your storage. Although these features aren’t really fancy or anything like that, they’re functional, and that’s what really matters.

Once you start to look more into the paid versions of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, your options definitely start to open up. First of all, with the paid versions, you don’t have restrictions regarding the amount of data that you can recover. With the free version, you can only recover 2 GB of data. With the paid versions, you can recover as much data as you want. When you purchase the paid versions of this software, you also receive free technical support from EaseUS. This may be a valuable resource if you’re someone who isn’t typically very tech-savvy. I encourage you to explore the paid versions of this software, if you’re interested. There are three paid versions: Data Recovery Wizard Pro, Data Recovery Wizard Pro + WinPE, and Data Recovery Wizard Technician. Each version is a little different, and you’re welcome to independently research these differences yourself.

How do you use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard?

In my opinion, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is very easy to use. It’s designed in a stream-lined, intuitive way, and I don’t think that it takes a rocket scientist to figure out how it works. However, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being completely prepared headed into this. There are a lot of things that you can do with this software, but I’m just gonna provide a brief overview regarding how you would recover any kind of data. The first thing you want to do is launch EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, obviously. From there, you’re going to select the location that you want to search for data from. Once you have selected the location, click the Scan button at the bottom of the window. The software will begin scanning your location.

First, a quick scan will be conducted. This will just generally sweep through the disk. Once that is completed, a deeper scan will begin, which searches more deeply through the file index for lost files. When the scan has completed entirely, you can choose the data that you want to recover by ticking the check box next to the file name. As soon as you’ve selected all of the files that you were looking to recover, you can click the Recover button in the bottom right corner. A window will then appear that allows you to choose the destination folder for your recovered data. It is highly recommended that you don’t save the recovered data to the same drive that the data was lost to in the first place. From there, you just click ‘OK’ and let the software work its magic. It’s really that simple!

Is EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard worth it?

So whenever you check out a new software, it’s only natural for you to wonder whether or not that software is actually worth it. Is it worth your time? Is it worth your money? That second question may seem a bit redundant to you, considering the fact that EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard has a free version. The free version is great, don’t get me wrong, but the 2 GB data recovery limit doesn’t give you a ton of mileage. Even if you’re only recovering small files, this means that you wouldn’t be able to use the free version for that long. And if you’re looking to recover larger files, then the free version really won’t do you much good. Although for some people the free version is all you’ll need, I still think you should think of it as more of a free trial than anything else.

Once you start looking at the paid versions of EaseUS Data Recovery, you may be hesitant to spend a lot of money on something that serves a fairly niche purpose. This software is great, but it isn’t really a Swiss army knife. It’s something that you only use for a couple of choice purposes, so I can understand why you wouldn’t feel completely right with spending money on it. However, I think it’s worth considering that EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard may only do one job, but that one job is almost priceless. It’s capable of recovering data that you would have literally no other way of recovering otherwise. Whether it’s baby pictures, holiday videos, or important work files, this is a software that’s really helpful in terms of pulling you from the fire, so to speak. With that said, if you’re looking for a reliable and efficient data recovery software, I really can’t recommend EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard enough.'
