Several guest appearances later, Delia received a small break after being cast as one of the lead protagonists in the TBS comedy drama, Glory Daze. Created by Michael LeSieur and Walt Becker, the story revolved around a group of friends attending an Indiana University in 1986. His first time playing a major role on television, he portrayed the part of William Xavier Stankowski, an upperclassman who is known for being helpful and wise. Released on November 16, 2010, Glory Daze drew in over 1.8 million viewers in the United States during its series premiere. Though the show was eventually cancelled due to low ratings, it remains a notable highlight of Delia’s career.
A year later, he hit it big with a lead role in NBC’s sitcom, Whitney. Debuted in the fall of 2011, the show follows the life of Whitney Cummings and her supportive boyfriend, Alex. While Whitney Cummings portrayed the role of herself in the comedy, Delia took on the part of Alex Miller, a website developer who helps men attain various life skills. The two actors are joined by Rhea Seehorn, Ton Bell, Maulik Pancholy, and Zoe Lister-Jones.
Premiered on September 22, 2011, Whitney garnered over 6.8 million viewers during its pilot episode, with an average viewership of 5.11 million during its first season. Eventually renewed for a second season, the show ultimately ran for 38 episodes before coming to an end in 2013. Though his portrayal of Alex didn’t earn him any special awards per se, it remains to be one of his best remembered performances on television to date.
