The girlfriend of Las Vegas shooter has arrived in the United States. She was met by agents in Los Angeles and will be questioned.
She arrived to the United States from the Philippines on late Tuesday. The woman, a former casino employee, had been in the Philippines since last month and was reportedly wired $100,000 before the shooting happened.
Stephen Paddock, a retired accountant, shot into a crowd from a room in the Mandalay Bay hotel during a concert on late Sunday. 58 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. Police made it to his room but he killed himself. Videos and images showed two broken windows in the hotel. Police believe the gunman moved between windows during the attack, which happened when singer Jason Aldean was on the stage.
Marilou Danley, who was in the Philippines since September, was living with Stephen Paddock and authorities were hoping before her arrival that she would agree to be interviewed. US authorities contacted her after the shooting.
Stephen Paddock had reportedly spent a few days at the hotel and Danley’s sisters say she did not know she was going to the Philippines. Ms. Danley learned about the trip when Paddock told her he had bought a ticket. Her sisters told 7News that she was sent away so she would not interfere with what he was planning. Recent reports say Paddock checked into the hotel using some of her documents.
Earlier today, reports said Ms. Danley had been wired $100,000. Ms. Danley’s sisters said that the money had been sent to her when she was in the Philippines.
Ms. Danley, an Australian citizen, was born in the Philippines. She moved to the US 20 years ago and was married to an American until their divorce two years ago. She is a former casino employee and it is believed that she met Stephen Paddock at a casino.
Authorities continue the investigation as they don’t know why a retired accountant would decide to carry out a mass shooting. Paddock was living in Mesquite, Nevada and according to police, he had several firearms, rounds of ammunition and explosives in his property.
One of his brothers, who was interviewed hours after the shooting, said he was shocked by what he had done. He confirmed that he had a girlfriend and that they had met three or four times. He also told reporters that Stephen was helping his mother.
