Huawei has announced a new mid-range smartphone but the device appears to be a little higher than the mid-range category. The Nova 2i has a $499 price tag and it actually features more cameras than some of the premium phones out today.
What do you get with the $499 Huawei Nova 2i? Well, the device has a 5.9-inch LCD display (18:9 ratio FullView display). The screen looks pretty good from the pictures as it stretches from nearly edge to edge. Huawei has left a little space at the bottom of the screen by putting the company’s name there but the screen still looks pretty good, especially since it’s a $499 phone.
The back of the device looks clean and many will love that the fingerprint scanner is located on the back, right under the cameras. Huawei’s page shows the device in blue, black and gold, so those will likely be the only three color options once it’s released.
The most interesting part about this phone seems to be the dual cameras. Yes, there are dual cameras not only on the back but also on the front. Dual rear cameras are now very common in smartphones but not dual front facing cameras. The camera setup is actually a little different too, the rear dual cameras are of 16MP and 2MP. The front facing cameras are of 13MP and 2MP.
The Huawei Nova 2i has a Kirin 659 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 3,340 mAh battery. Earlier this year, the company unveiled the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus. The phones don’t have the massive screens but did catch the attention of many because of their dual rear cameras. The Nova 2 also brought a 20MP front camera.
The Huawei Nova 2i will be released in many countries in the next few weeks. What do you think about this phone? Let us know in the comments.
