Amazon Knife Set deals

Amazon, the king of retailers, can be a great place to shop for the home chef. Whether you need dishes, silverware, or for our purposes, knife sets, Amazon has a good deal of selection to choose from. Let’s look at some of the best deals available.

For those who want a little flash for your function, the Mercer Genesis Brand can be just the ticket. Offering the standard selection of paring to butcher knives, this set is stored in an upright glass block that has a great contemporary look. The knives themselves are high carbon German steel, with Santoprene handles for better grip and minimal slip. The tapered ground edges allow for greater stability and comfort when cooking. Also included is a limited lifetime warranty, with the total price of $105, down from $140.

Farberware 15-Piece Stamped Stainless Steel Knife Block Set

Coming from the most popular brand of knives in the United States, Farberware pairs affordability with decent performance. Including 8 inch chef, slicer, and bread knives, a 7 inch Santoku, a serrated Utility knife, 3.5 inch paring knife and 6 steak knives alongside a pair of butchers shears and block with sharpening steel makes for a complete package at $20, 50% off normal prices. These are all high carbon stainless steel knives that are recommended to be hand washed, and overall if well taken care of can last a good number of years.

Sabatier Self Sharpening Edgekeeper Pro 12 Piece Forged Triple Rivet Knife Block Set

Another full set of knives, the Sabatier brand is a bit more luxurious than the Farberware set, though the price also is higher. Each blade is made corrosion resistant and the block is made from natural hardwood with a matte black finish. The inside of the block includes a sharpening sleeve to make sure the cut you make 5 years from now is as good as the cut you make next week. Each knife is also full tang which gives the knives greater balance and a much more sturdy feeling. The current price of this knife set is $50 instead of the usual $100.

X-Chef Premium Stainless Steel 11 Knives set with Acrylic stand

A Black Friday special from amazon, this X-Chef set is a great starter set for those who really want to get into cooking. Many reviews mention that these knives are very sharp and overall quite well balanced, and the acrylic stand is more than sturdy enough. That being said, occasional sharpening and buffing of the blades may be needed. The sale price is $21.99 instead of $36.

Abt Electronics Black Friday Knife Deals

Though not terribly well known, this electronics store founded in 1936 offers one killer deal for knives.

Wusthof 18 Piece Gourmet Knife Block Set

German Steel is one of those things that just carry some serious weight in just about anything. German Steel car parts? Awesome. German Steel tools? Nearly indestructible. This is true for knives as well, which is great for the Wustof brand who uses German steel to laser cut some of the most well balanced, durable knives around. The handle of these knives are made of a somewhat new material, Polyoxymethylene which provides lightweight but incredibly sturdy grip, which also resists fading and discoloration. Included in the kit is a fantastic circular knife sharpener. The natural Acacia Wood block is likewise very carefully crafted and is a great price at $200, well below the nearly $600 normal cost.

Meijer Black Friday Knife Set Deals

A primarily Northeast store chain, Meijer provides great prices on a great deal of items during the Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas season. Here are two choice ads from this season regarding knife sets.

Farberware Pro Natural Block 13 Piece or Chicago Cutlery 16 piece set

Meijer is offering both of these wonderful mid-range knife sets at a great deal of $50, a savings of $30. Both feature a good selection of knives and natural wood blocks.

Oster Electric Knife Set and 16-qt roaster oven

Now, we’ve all had that one bird where the knives just didn’t quite work. We sharpened, changed our cut angle, but ultimately end up murdering that bird a second time. If you’ve ever thought about going to the garage to start up the chainsaw and just say forget it to decorum, you may want to look into this deal. Meijer is offering a wonderful electric knife from Oster (which makes cutting so much easier) and a 16 quart roaster oven than may make the next holiday meal a great deal easier.

Overstock.com Black Friday Knife Deals

Overstock.com is similar to Amazon in many respects, often offering discounted deals on items that stores simply didn’t have room for. This occasionally means some great knives at better prices such as is the case below.

Ginsu Chikara Series Forged 5 Piece Knife Set with Hardwood Block

This knife set is made of full tang, Japanese steel that are considered a consumer best buy for the past 5 years in a row and include a limetime warranty. This small set is on sale for $60 just in time for Black Friday, down from $100.

Oneida Silver Stainless Steel 8 Piece Steak Knives

Sometimes it’s not the knives in the kitchen you have to worry about, but rather the ones on the table. If that’s the case, then the Oneida Silver line is a great option at the price of $42 (a 54% savings). The knives are unconventional in that the handles are hollowed out to save on weight.

As a recap, it appears that Miejers has the best deals for the more conventional chefs if a store is near you, while Overstock is good for specific knife pieces and Amazon is a decent knife set retailer for everyone else.
