Back in 1943, 4 German immigrants opened an imported cheese shop in Cleveland, deciding to sell fabric on the side but when the fabric started selling like crazy-cakes, they had to open a separate store. Eventually they discontinued the cheese and re-named the store Cleveland Fabric Store, and with growth and expansion, re-named again in 1969 to Jo-Ann Fabrics after the two couples’ daughters. Fabric was just the beginning, and year after year, more crafts and gift products were added to the already amazing range of items. Today, Joann Fabrics has stores in 49 states and though there is no location in Hawaii, they will still ship orders there. That’s dedication!
