Vivo Unveils The X20 World Cup Edition

In September, Vivo launched its X20 and X20 Plus smartphones. Now, the company has unveiled a new edition of the device. We’re talking about the X20 World Cup Edition, which simply brings one difference over the smartphones launched three months ago. The X20 World Cup Edition has the same specs as the previous release and the only difference can be found on the back of the phone. The X20 World Cup Edition has the 2018 World Cup Russia logo on the lower back. Images show this edition in a black color option with the logo of the tournament in white.

FIFA officials will reportedly receive and use the phone throughout the tournament, which begins in June 14, 2018. The X20 World Cup Edition was unveiled at a ceremony in Moscow, Russia before the World Cup draw. In May, Vivo became an official sponsor of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup. The sponsorship deal, which is said to be worth $400 million euros, allowed Vivo to become FIFA’s 12th sponsor for the 2018 World Cup. In FIFA’s website, it was revealed that the Vivo logo will appear during every match on the field advertising boards, tickets and a few other places. The announcement also included the introduction of customized FIFA World Cup phones.

The partnership between the company and sports was nothing new at the time. In June, the company, which had replaced Pepsi as the sponsor of the Indian Premier League two years ago, retained the title sponsorship until 2022 with a mega deal. In October 2016, NBA China and Vivo announced a marketing partnership that made the company the league’s official mobile phone partner in China. The deal was the first partnership with a major pro sports league for Vivo.
