A professional dancer, Chachi Gonzales is a member of the Texas-based dance crew, I.aM.mE. While still in her teens, she and the group won the sixth season of MTV’s dancing competition series, America’s Best Dance Crew, an event that went on to garner them much fame.
Not long afterward, she made a cameo in the Disney Channel sitcom, Shake it Up. From there, she landed a recurring role in the Emmy-nominated Hulu series, East Los High in 2014. More recently, she also played Addy in the horror series, Freakish.
How Chachi Gonzales Became Famous
A dancer since the age of eight, she joined the hip-hop dance crew, I.aM.mE in 2010. Shortly afterward, they decided to participate in the sixth season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. With their talent and a little bit of luck, the group eventually came out as the winners in June 2011. Ultimately, it was the show that had rocketed Chachi and her teammates to fame.
Chachi Gonzales’ Acting Projects
A year after their win, she made a small appearance in the Disney series, Shake It Up. From there, she was offered a recurring role in the Hulu original series, East Los High. Noted for its all Latino cast, it performed exceptionally well during its run, having received five Emmy Award nominations over the years.
Two years later, Chachi returned to television as a guest star in the musical comedy, Make It Pop. With that said, it wasn’t until 2016, that she landed her second recurring role in the Hulu horror series, Freakish. Premiered that fall, its cast included several high-profile social media celebrities including Hayes Grier, Liza Koshy, Leo Howard, and Meghan Rienks, among a few others.
Since then, she has also played Brianna Wheeler in the TV series, Guidance, and Gaby in the short film, Long Distance. According to her IMDb page, the dancer will also be appearing in an upcoming series called, Ultimate Expedition, sometime later this year.
