iPhone SE 2: Launch Could Happen As Early As May, Report Says

Apple is rumored to be working on several phones for 2018 and one of those is said to be a much more affordable device. That device could be the new version of the iPhone SE, a phone that made its debut back in March 2016.

In recent months, there have been plenty of rumors on Apple’s smaller and much more affordable device. A second version did not arrive in 2017 but a report by DigiTimes research analyst Luke Lin mentions that the device will have some of the features found on Apple’s latest phones. The research analyst believes the phone will now have a glass back but will not have the 3D Touch features found on other iPhones. He also mentions that the official launch could happen in May or June.

Apple has not confirmed if there will actually be an iPhone SE 2 but rumors about the device haven’t stopped surfacing since early 2017. The latest report also happens to match what other tech sites have said in recent months. Earlier this month, Tekz24 claimed that the iPhone SE 2 will feature a glass back and wireless charging support. The tech site added that the device will offer 32GB and 128GB variants. In March 2017, Apple doubled the iPhone SE storage to 32GB and 128GB. The prices remained the same as the launch, $399 and $499.

The iPhone SE was released back in March 2016 and gave customers a different option from the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which were the current phones at the time. The iPhone SE brings a similar design to the iPhone 5s but the changes are on the hardware. The phone features the same hardware as the iPhone 6s.

It’s been nearly two years since the phone was released but fans haven’t forgotten about it since the solid specs and price make it a good option for those who don’t want to spend over $500 on a new iPhone.

The iPhone SE 2 is one of three Apple phones that could arrive in 2018, according to rumors. There isn’t much to say about the design since the phone is all rumors but recent concept images have shown a device that looks like a mini iPhone X. The device is all iPhone X on the front but iPhone 5s and SE on the back.
