A picture of what appears to be the packaging of a Samsung Galaxy S9 has revealed some of the key specs. The flagship smartphone is said to be launching soon but leaks and rumors have already given everyone an idea on Samsung’s upcoming device. Here are the specs seen in the packaging:
- Full screen size 5.8-inches.
- 5.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display.
- 12MP camera.
- 8MP AF Selfie Camera.
- Stereo Speakers tuned by AKG.
- IP68 Water & Dust Resistant.
- Iris Scanner.
- 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.
- Wireless charging.
- Earphones tuned by AKG.
This is the packaging of the Galaxy S9, so the specs will likely be different for the Galaxy S9+. One detail not mentioned in the packaging are the processors, which are expected to be a Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9 Series 9810.
A Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ design recently appeared in case listings from smartphone and tablet accessory companies Olixar and Ghostek. The designs seen in the case listings were quite similar and revealed that the Galaxy S9 will be missing a major feature. That feature is the dual rear camera, which only appears on the Galaxy S9+ case listings.
The design will most likely remain nearly the same as last year’s release. The only big difference seen from the case listings is that the fingerprint sensor will now be located under the camera. The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 both feature the fingerprint sensor on the side of the camera, which was something that many users didn’t like. The Galaxy S9+ is expected to have more RAM and more storage.
A few days ago, DJ Koh, President of Samsung’s mobile business, confirmed that the launch of the phones would be at MWC 2018. The tech giant did not unveil the Galaxy S8 at MWC 2017 but previous editions have been announced there. Rumors had previously mentioned that the Galaxy S9 would make a CES 2018 appearance but that didn’t happen. MWC 2018 is a little over a month away so the wait won’t be very long.
In other Samsung news, SamMobile has learned from the Galaxy Club site that the company has trademarked the name ”Metal 12”. This material is used in its new Notebook 9 laptop, making it lightweight. The material is only part of that device but Samsung might use it in other releases in the future.
