A freestyle skier for the United States, David Wise won the gold medal in the halfpipe event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Aside from that, he has also won the Winter X Games four times over the past six years.
Growing up near Lake Tahoe, Wise began skiing at the age of three on the outskirts of Reno. Quickly taking to the sport, it wasn’t long before he began ski racing at Mt. Rose. By the time he was fifteen, he had won his first gold medal at the U.S. National Championships.
Continuing to prove himself over the next few years, he eventually won his first Winter X Games event in 2012, at the age of twenty-two.

How David Wise Became Famous
Though he had a few wins at the Winter X Games, it wasn’t until he won the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, that his popularity peaked. Despite unfavorable weather conditions that were present at the venue, he successfully finished first, with the best score of 92.00.
That same year, he also won the superpipe event in the Winter X Games- for his third consecutive gold medal.
David Wise’s Personal Life
For many years, the freestyle skier has been married to his high school sweetheart, Alexandra. Together with her, he has two children, a daughter named Nayeli and a son named Malachi.
When he isn’t skiing up in the mountains, he spends his time with his young family. Devoted Christians, they also run a youth group at their local church.
