Shaun was born on September 3rd, 1986 in San Diego, California. Before he even turned one year old, he endured two open-heart procedures to fix a congenital defect. It’s impressive that he was able to survive as long as he has, much less became the tremendous athlete and Olympian he is today. He was discovered by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, who launched him into pro skateboarding when he was 17. He used that talent to snowboard as well, which landed him in the Olympics. He has won 2 gold medals and broken many records as an Olympic snowboarder.
