Amazon Will Not Renew The Grand Tour After Season 3, Report Says

The Daily Mail sources have revealed that Amazon will not renew The Grand Tour after season three. The series, which debuted back in November 2016, features Clarkson, Hammond and May. Season two recently ended, meaning there is only one season left if Amazon is really not planning to renew it.

The source said that there is nothing to suggest they are going to do another one, adding that no one has signed anything and staff are wondering where everyone is going once filming is done.

The three hosts joined Amazon for a new car series after agreeing to a big deal. The deal is said to be for three seasons of 12 episodes each. The series, which is available through Amazon Prime, returned back in early December for its second season. James May and Richard Hammond have not said anything on social media about the report but Jeremy Clarkson did reply to a Twitter user, saying ”Hilarious you believe Mail Online.”

Clarkson, Hammond and May signed a deal with the online retailer months after leaving Top Gear. Clarkson was suspended in early 2015 after an incident with a producer. According to reports, the incident happened when Clarkson was served cold cheese instead of a steak. The producer sued the BBC and Clarkson months later. The BBC later fired him and decided not to renew the contracts of May and Hammond. Top Gear later returned with new hosts.

No one knows what is going to happen since Amazon has not confirmed that it won’t renew the series. We do know that fans of the series have taken social media to find out more. Clarkson’s reply has received more than 1,000 likes and nearly 100 retweets.

The Grand Tour debuted in November 18, 2016 and the first episode became Amazon’s most watched premiere episode shortly after its launch. The episodes are released weekly to Amazon Prime members across the world. Season two returned in December and the three hosts said they did not know the number of viewers. Clarkson said during the season two premiere screening in New York that he was annoyed about not knowing the number of viewers.

Season three will probably return at the end of the year as the two previous seasons have debuted in November 2016 and December 2017.
