Best Buy, one of the biggest electronic companies in the US, has decided to cut ties with Huawei, one of the biggest smartphone makers in the world. The reports from Reuters and CNET mention that the company will no longer sell Huawei devices.

Reuters reports that the information comes from a person familiar with the matter. According to that person, the electronics company will stop selling the devices in the next few weeks.

Huawei has a very small presence in the US and Best Buy was one of the companies where its devices could be found in the US. Online retailer Amazon also offers a number of Huawei devices, including the Mate 10 Lite and the Mate 10 Pro.

The electronics company and smartphone maker have not given any details. Reuters was told by a Best Buy spokesman that the company could not comment on the contracts. That spokesman added that they make decisions to change what they sell for a variety of reasons.

This appears to be more bad news for Huawei, a company that is one of the biggest despite having a small presence in the US. The company has been trying to expand in the US but things have not gone well. Back in December, there were reports that Huawei and Xiaomi were in talks with US carriers to bring phones there.

Huawei would continue making news and in January, it appeared that the company had secured a deal with AT&T. But reports later revealed that AT&T had backed out of it. Rumors had previously mentioned that the partnership would be announced at CES 2018. Huawei later confirmed to CNBC that it would not sell its Mate 10 Pro smartphone through AT&T but added that it would still release new products in America. Xiaomi, another popular Chinese electronics company, recently revealed that it plans to enter the US market this year or early 2019.

CNET reports that the electronics company has stopped ordering smartphones from Huawei and will stop selling stock over the next few weeks. Best Buy’s website is currently selling Huawei phones such as the Mate 10 Pro, Mate SE, Mate 9, Honor 8 and Honor 6X.

Huawei is the third largest smartphone maker in the world behind Apple and Samsung. In September 2017, a Counterpoint Research report revealed that the company had surpassed Apple’s global smartphone sales for the first time in June and July.
