A triple threat, Gus Kenworthy is a freestyle skier who competes in big air, halfpipe and slopestyle. A two-time Olympian, he had gained attention after finishing second at the Winter Olympics in 2014. Earlier this February, he had also represented the country at the recent Winter Games in February 2018.
Born in the UK, he and his family had emigrated to the United States when he was still a toddler. One of three siblings, he was brought up in the town of Telluride, where he began skiing at an early age.

How Gus Kenworthy Became Famous
Kenworthy had started to gain attention after winning three overall titles at the AFP World Championships in the early 2010’s. With that said, it wasn’t until he finished second for a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics that he won himself more fans as a slopestyle skier. That same season, he had won his first medal at the X Games which were held in Tignes, France.
Following his Olympic win, the skier won the halfpipe event at the World Cup in Park City in 2015; he later defended his title in 2016. In 2017, he finished in the second place.
Four years after his Olympic debut, he had the chance to represent the country again at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where he qualified for the finals. In the end, he placed twelfth overall.
Gus Kenworthy’s Personal Life
In 2015, the athlete came out as gay in an interview with ESPN. In the past, he had dated Robin Macdonald, a man who was involved with photography and the ski industry. In fact, they had gained public attention after staying behind in Sochi to rescue a family of dogs. After five years of dating, however, the two eventually broke up.
