Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury vs. Galaxy S8 – What’s The Difference?

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is no longer the latest flagship release from the company but earlier this week the company brought back a phone that is nearly the same but at a lower or right around the same price.

The phone announced was the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury, which many see as a budget Galaxy S8 due to its similarities in design but with less powerful specs. The Galaxy S Light Luxury, currently available in China, is a lot like the Galaxy S8 but it does have its differences, mostly on the specs. Here is what’s different between the two devices:

This phone has pretty much the same design as the Galaxy S8. The device has the fingerprint scanner on the right side of the camera. There is also a Bixby button, just like on the Galaxy S8. There is really nothing that differences the two devices when it comes to design. The phone is available in Red and Black color options.

The smartphone has a 5.8-inch display, just like the Galaxy S8. There is also 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The difference is on the main camera and the processor. The Galaxy S8 has a 12MP main camera while the Galaxy S Light Luxury has a 16MP main camera. The Galaxy S8 features a Snapdragon 835 processor while the Galaxy S Light Luxury has a Snapdragon 660 processor.

The changes on the hardware don’t mean a much lower price for the Galaxy S Light Luxury. The smartphone, which has only been launched in China, has a price of CNY 3,999 ($626). That is far from making it an affordable device and it is actually a little more expensive than the Galaxy S8. Samsung’s 2017 release is available for less than $600 in online retailers such as Amazon. Samsung has not said if this device will be released outside of China.
