Colombia: Authorities Identify Elderly Woman Who Fired Shots After Game

A video of an elderly woman who fired a few shots after a World Cup game has helped Colombian authorities identify her. The video shows the elderly woman walking out to the balcony and firing shots into the air with a blank gun.

Video of The Incident

The person recording the video can be heard cheering and supporting her action. The video ends with the woman firing the shots and walking back to the apartment as she is smiling. Reports say the video was taken after one of Colombia’s wins at the World Cup. The South American nation ended the group stage with six points.

Colombian authorities have now opened an investigation for disorderly conduct. She is also facing a fine of 400,000 pesos ($138). The incident took place near a busy road in the Santander Department.

Police Launch Investigation

Reports say the woman walked out to the balcony with the blank gun to celebrate the World Cup win. Several cars and people are seen near the road when she fires into the air.  El Tiempo reports that an official of Bucaramanga police said that the woman had been identified and that they know where she lives.

The official said the video will be used as part of the investigation. The woman is no stranger to videos as she was also seen in another video celebrating the results of the presidential election a few weeks ago. The latest one could land her in trouble as authorities are not happy with how she celebrated the World Cup win.
