Huawei will likely unveil its P30 and P30 Pro flagship smartphones at MWC 2019, which takes place in just a few weeks. The Chinese smartphone giant has not said much about its upcoming device but that doesn’t mean that the leaks have stopped. The latest leak reveals what we could see in the camera department as well as the specs.
Andro4all reports that GG has pointed out that the phones will be equipped with a water drop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The report also reveals that the smartphones will have 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays.
The water drop notch will be a major change from the P20 smartphones. The current edition of the series has a notch but it is a bit longer, taking more screen. The water drop notch allows the phone to have more screen.
The report adds that the P30 will now come with a triple camera setup while the P30 Pro will feature four cameras. Last year’s P20 comes with a dual camera setup while the P20 Pro is the one that features the three cameras. The P20 Pro was actually among the first phones to offer a triple camera setup. Huawei has continued the triple cameras with its Mate phones and that will likely spread to other phones in the near future.
The two smartphones are said to be coming with the Kirin 980 processor. The P30 is said to pack 8GB of RAM while the P30 Pro is said to be coming with a whopping 12GB of RAM. We’ve seen 8GB RAM in smartphones recently but I think this would be a new record.
There is some bad news for at least one of the smartphones. Reports say that the company has decided to remove the headphone jack from the P30. It is unclear if the company will do the same with the P30 Pro.
Huawei’s MWC 2019 appearance could be huge for the smartphone market. The announcement of the P30 and P30 Pro would be huge alone but the company is said to have more plans for the event. Just hours ago, reports mentioned that the company might bring its foldable phone there.
Huawei has not shown its foldable device but they have confirmed that they are working on one. Last year, one of its officials confirmed that there was a working prototype, adding that the company was still working on some issues with the technology.
Huawei could have one major advantage with its foldable device. The phone is said to have 5G support, something that other foldable devices might leave out. Recent reports have mentioned that companies such as Samsung will stick to 5G support but with the Galaxy series, most likely the Galaxy S10.
Huawei will not be the first to announce a foldable device though. Samsung has already shown its device at an event and while that is big news, the South Korean giant is still not the first to show a foldable device. Royole has already released the FlexPai Phone, which has foldable features like the ones we have seen in concept images.
Xiaomi has also joined the race by recently showing its foldable device through a teaser. The company does not give information on the device but it does show how it can fold and become small or a large tablet.
