Huawei Y9 Coming To India On January 10

Huawei’s latest addition to its Y series is scheduled to debut in India on January 10. The midrange smartphone has been out for a few weeks now but it is finally coming to the country in less than two days.

The Huawei Y9 (2019) cannot be compared to the likes of the Mate 20 Pro or P20 Pro but the series has stood out in recent years for offering very good specs at very low prices. Last year’s Y9 was a nice release and this one is no different.

Specifications

Here are the specs of the Y9 (2019):

  • 6.5-inch display. A much higher screen to body ratio than the 2018 Y9.
  • Kirin 710 processor.
  • microSD slot.
  • Dual cameras on both sides. 16MP + 2MP setup and 13MP + 2MP on the front.
  • 4,000 mAh battery.
  • Variants of 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. It is unclear which variants will be released there or if the company will have a new variant for the country.

Y9 2019 and 2018 Editions

The Y9 (2019) was released late last year but it comes with many differences over the 2018 edition. This release has a much bigger display than the previous edition. Not only is the display bigger but Huawei has also decided to add a notch. The notch can be compared to the one found on the P20 Lite. The company has also gone with similar color options to the P20 devices.

Dual Cameras are Back

The 2018 and 2019 editions do share similarities when it comes to having dual cameras on both sides. The only difference between the two setups is that the 2018 release has a horizontal camera while the latest Y9 has a vertical camera. The camera design for the 2019 release is similar to the one seen on the P20 phones released last year.

Less Than $300 ?

The Huawei Y9 is already available in a few countries so the prices probably won’t be much different in India. The phone is expected to have a price less than Rs. 20,000 ($285). The phone has launched in other countries at a price between $240 – $250. Huawei will likely unveil the price during its launch in a few days.

Huawei’s most popular phones are mostly from the P and Mate series but the Y lineup has quickly impressed in the midrange market. The 2018 edition was a huge change, especially on the camera department, and Huawei has continued the big changes and addition of big features with the Y9 (2019).
