The most recent episode of WWE Raw saw Becky Lynch confront Stephanie and Triple H. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion was invited to the brand, where she stepped in the ring to talk about her Wrestlemania match with Ronda Rousey.
The segment appeared to be going Becky’s way until Vince McMahon came out and said that he would not accept her apology. Vince also announced that she was suspended for 60 days, which meant that she would not be part of her Wrestlemania match.
Vince didn’t waste any time announcing a replacement to fight against Ronda Rousey. The CEO of WWE announced that Charlotte Flair would be in the match. The announcement was a tough one for Becky since she won a Royal Rumble match against her.
The video of the whole segment was later posted on WWE’s YouTube channel. The video quickly began seeing a ton of dislikes from fans upset about the decision. The amount of dislikes reached thousands and the video recently broke a record.
The video of the segment, which was posted on February 11, is now on 66,000 dislikes. This is much higher than the previous record, which was held by Roman Reigns and his segment after defeating The Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
Back in 2017, The Big Dog was in a feud with The Undertaker, who had just lost once at Wrestlemania. Roman Reigns gave The Undertaker his second loss at the big event. The Raw episode after the event saw Roman Reigns come out to the ring.
The former The Shield member was boo’d throughout his entrance and minutes went by before he could even speak. The segment ended with him declaring that this was his yard now.
That video of the Roman Reigns segment reached a record 38,000 dislikes. At the time, Roman Reigns wasn’t exactly the most liked superstar by WWE fans and was usually boo’d in his entrances and segments. It didn’t help that The Undertaker hinted at retirement after losing the match.
It seemed like the record would stand for a long time but it appears that WWE has done just enough to anger some fans. Charlotte isn’t a bad choice to represent SmackDown at Wrestlemania but Becky Lynch has been on fire recently.
Becky, who now calls herself The Man, won the 2019 Royal Rumble. That win came against Charlotte Flair, one of her biggest rivals in NXT and the main roster. Becky’s new character has captured the attention of many fans and the announcement immediately drew a negative reaction.
Charlotte vs. Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania sounds good but I think this match will have one more superstar. WWE is no stranger to taking superstars out of matches only to have them fight back or earn the opportunity again. We saw this with Daniel Bryan for Wrestlemania 30.
Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey was the perfect match from the beginning since the WWE Raw Women’s Champion interfered in the TLC event to help Asuka win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship from Becky and Charlotte.
Becky Lynch later lost to Asuka at the 2019 Royal Rumble but earned another opportunity at one of the titles after replacing Lana for the Royal Rumble match. Lynch later came to WWE Raw to announce that she was challenging Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania.
