2019 NFL Free Agency: The Latest On The Big Free Agent Names

Nick Foles

The Eagles have announced that they will not keep quarterback Nick Foles. This is not really a surprise since the price to keep him was really high. The Eagles will move on with Wentz as their quarterback, just like they had planned during the second half of the season before he got injured again. Foles will be a free agent real soon and one team is said to be a favorite to sign him. That team is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who struggled with Bortles last season. Rumors say that Bortles will likely be released.

Demarcus Lawrence

Demarcus Lawrence and the Dallas Cowboys looked really good on defense during most of the 2018 – 2019 season. But rumors say that the Cowboys and the star defensive end are not near a contract. Lawrence was franchise tagged last season and the defensive end has expressed his desire to avoid that this season. Lawrence’s agent spoke with the media in Indianapolis and didn’t have much good news when it came to a deal. Lawrence would earn about $20 million next season if he is franchise tagged again.

Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell skipped last season with the Steelers after not reaching a long term deal with the team. He will soon be a free agent and many teams are said to be interested in signing the star running back. One report has Bell as a favorite to sign with the New York Jets, who have plenty of space to make a deal happen. Another report has the Raiders as a strong candidate to sign Bell and make another big move for a former teammate. The report adds that the Raiders not only want to sign Bell but also trade for Antonio Brown, who has made it clear that he wants out of Pittsburgh.

Golden Tate

Golden Tate joined the Philadelphia Eagles through a trade last year. He is set to become a free agent on March 13 and reports say that the Eagles probably won’t bring him back. This leaves Tate looking for a new team and that team could end up being the Patriots. New England is rumored to be interested in signing a receiver and Tate recently told the Prostyle Podcast that he would love playing for them. Tate also said that he would like to catch passes from Tom Brady, who now has six Super Bowl rings in his career.

Ndamukong Suh

Suh signed a one year deal with the Rams last season and he is set to become a free agent in nine days. The former second overall pick was very productive in the playoffs and head coach Sean McVay recently said that he is definitely somebody they are interested in.

Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas has been tied to Dallas in recent months since he has made it clear that he would want the team to make a move for him. No deal happened last season but the Cowboys are rumored to be among the teams interested in signing him. Reports have the Packers, 49ers and Colts as other teams that want to sign the star safety.

Dee Ford

Dee Ford had a good 2018-19 season and reports have been all over the place in the last few hours. Not too long ago, reports mentioned that Kansas City was open to trading the outside linebacker. That changed earlier today when it was reported that the Chiefs are placing the franchise tag on him. Ford struggled early in his career but put up 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles last season, making him one of the most important pieces on the defensive side.
