Xiaomi recently announced its Mi A3 phone during an event in Spain. The event brought details on the price and release date for Spain but not for other countries. Now, it has been confirmed that the phone will start arriving to Asia on July 31.
The launch in Asia will begin with Malaysia, where the company has already sent out invites to the media for an event in the capital. It is currently unclear which countries will see the device after its launch in Malaysia.
The Mi A3 is pretty much a Mi CC9e for global markets. The phone is part of the Android One program, just like the previous editions. The Android One program brings stock Android to the device instead of the company’s MIUI.
The Mi A3 has a number of improvements over last year’s edition. This year’s device now has an AMOLED display. In the front, there is a major difference as the phone now has a waterdrop notch. The Mi A1 and Mi A2 feature the standard look of older smartphones, with some space at the top and bottom.
The new edition also brings back the headphone jack and has a much larger battery. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor. There is some bad news for those who wanted to see more RAM and a lot more storage.
The Mi A3 has two variants at the moment and they both offer 4GB of RAM with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot so that’s a bit of good news. Xiaomi has done some work in the camera department. The Mi A3 features triple cameras on the back. There is a 48MP main sensor along with 8MP and 2MP sensors. The front camera has a 32MP sensor.
Like we mentioned above, the Mi A3 is simply a global version of the Mi CC9e, which was launched at the start of the month. Xiaomi has announced three color options so far, including Blue and Grey.
Most of the phone’s information comes from the event in Spain, where the device was unveiled. Prices are not yet known for Malaysia but in Spain, the phone has a price of 249 euros ($279) for the 64GB variant. The second variant with double the storage isn’t very expensive at 279 euros ($313).
The company has announced that the 64GB variant will be available in several retailers in the European country as well as its Mi Stores and official website. The phone is available for pre-order now and will go on sale on July 24.
The launch event in Malaysia will likely give more details on the phone’s price and release date there. In the past, Xiaomi has brought more variants for its popular phones so many are hoping the company releases different versions later on. Last year, the company introduced a Lite version to the Mi A series.
