It’s almost time for the biggest shopping event of the year! What are we talking about? Black Friday and Cyber Monday, of course. For the purposes of this article, though, we’ll be focusing on the latter. How’s it different from Black Friday? Sales are on websites instead of in stores. In other words, it’s a day where you can take advantage of online deals! As you can imagine, that’s better in several ways. First and foremost, you won’t have to brave the crowds. Second of all, you don’t have to drive down to the store and lug things home. Instead of that, you can just have everything delivered to your house! You have to admit, that’s pretty convenient—especially if you don’t have a car.
If anything, the most important thing is to figure out what you want and where you can get it. In other words, you want to take a good look at the flyers before Cyber Monday comes. The good news is that most companies release them a few weeks ahead of time. All you need to do is do a quick search and you’ll be able to see what promos they have!
Why Eco-Friendly Products?
Switching to eco-friendly products can make a big difference when it comes to our environment. Not only does it reduce waste, but it also minimizes the use of energy and chemicals. Wouldn’t you want to do your part to help the planet?
Did you know:
- Plastic takes thousands of years to decompose in the landfill
- Paper accounts for one-fourth of all landfill waste
- Recycling one ton of paper saves nearly 700 gallons of oil
- Recycling plastic saves 2x as more energy than burning it
- 9/10 of all waste does not get recycled in the United States
- More than 100,000 marine animals die every year due to plastic waste
Given all that, it’s not surprising to know that more and more people are opting for eco-friendly options around the house. Want to make the switch? There are products that you can get such as all-natural cleaners, reusable bags, and compostable waste bags.
Eco-Friendly Cyber Monday 2019 Deals & Discounts
Where can you find these items? A lot of places. For example, you can get them at Walmart, Amazon, Target, Bed and Bath Beyond, and Costco. Don’t want to pay full price? There’s an easy solution to that—just wait until Cyber Monday! After all, there’s a high chance that prices will be dropping.
When in doubt, just visit their website. Any promotions that they’re having will be displayed on the front page! Or you know, you can always visit their physical store to get a flyer. More often than not, the Cyber Monday promos will be bundled together with the Black Friday offers.
1. Turbo Microfiber Mop with Reusable Pads
Many mops use disposable pads (Swiffer comes to mind). They might be effective but they’re similar to paper towels in that they create a lot of waste. You know what would be better? Microfiber mops. As their name implies, these types of mops use microfiber instead of paper, which is reusable. In other words, you won’t have to toss the pad into the trash when you’re done cleaning a section of the living room. You can either rinse it out with water and when you’re finished, you can put them in the laundry.
Not sure which Microfiber mop to get? Here’s a suggestion—how about the Turbo Mop? It’s our personal favorite and it has more than 1,000 positive reviews on Amazon. Lightweight with an aluminum handle, it can be used on most surfaces including vinyl, cement, hardwood, linoleum, and tile. On top of that, it has great maneuverability. For one thing, the mop head swivels 360 degrees. In other words, you’ll be able to reach corners and edges with ease. Did we also mention that the rod is extendable? No more having to bend over awkwardly trying to clean the floor!
It doesn’t limit you to a specific cleaner either (like the Swiffer). You can fill the plastic container with whatever product you want! If you want, you can even create your own mixture. How’s that for eco-friendly?
- 1 Extendable Handle
- 1 Mop Head
- 2 Microfiber Cleaning Pads
- 2 Deep Scrub Pads
The Turbo Mop retails for $34.95, which isn’t bad at all considering all the pads that it comes with. But you know what? The price will probably drop if you wait around a bit—until Cyber Monday. So be sure to check the Amazon page in a few weeks!
2. Swedish Dishcloths – Cellulose Cloths (10-Pack)
What do you use to clean up messes in the kitchen? Paper towels? If so, you might want to consider switching to something else. After all, they’re not great for the environment. Think about it—they go into the trash after just a few wipes! If everything were to do that, that’d be a lot of paper waste to the landfills. Don’t forget, their production requires a lot of energy as well. Not to mention the trees that are sacrificed!
As far as alternatives go, there are a few options—one of the best being Swedish dishcloths. Put it simply, they’re a type of cloth that dries super quickly. Don’t be fooled by the fact that they’re stiff and hard when dry—they turn super soft when wet. In fact, they’re capable of absorbing twenty times their weight in water! That should give you an idea as to how great they are when it comes to soaking up messes in the kitchen.
When they get dirty, all you have to do is give them a wash. How? There a couple of ways—you can either throw them in the washing machine or put them in the dishwasher. In other words, nothing will be going into the trash (at least not until they start to wear out, which isn’t for a long time). As an extra bonus, they also come in different patterns and designs!
- 1 Pack includes 10 Swedish Dishcloths
Swedish Dishcloths are priced very reasonably. If anything, they’re more cost-effective than paper towels! To give you a better idea, a 10-pack normally goes for $19.99, which is only about $2 each. Couple that with the fact that they last several months and you’ve got yourself a great deal!
The best part is that they’ll very likely go on sale for Cyber Monday. By how much? We don’t know yet—but we will soon.
3. Turbo Reusable Swiffer Microfiber Pads
You’ve probably heard of the Swiffer Wet Jet—it’s one of their best-selling mops. It’s easy to see why. After all, it lets you spray cleaner directly to the floor, which saves you both hassle and time. There’s just one thing —it uses disposable pads. As mentioned earlier, they contribute to the landfill. Not to mention that the refills themselves can be costly. You’re looking at around ~$10 per box, which is only good for a few mopping sessions.
Fortunately, there’s a way to use the Swiffer without having to use disposable pads. Do you see where we’re going with this? That’s right—you can swap them for something else. Microfiber pads, to be more specific. Take a look above. See those green pads? They’re designed specifically to fit the Wet Jet. Simply attach one to the bottom of the mop and you’re ready to clean! Trust me, they work great—say goodbye to the dirt, dust, and hair on your floors. The fact that they’re thick also means that they’ll absorb a good amount of cleaner! Once they get dirty, you can either rinse them out in the sink or put them in the washing machine (if you’re done mopping). Let them dry and you’ll be able to use them again!
Not only are they better for the environment (no more paper waste), but they’re cheaper in the long-run too! No more having to get constant refills from the store.
- 2 or 4 Reusable Microfiber Pads (Depending on what pack size you get)
The Turbo Mop Pads are available as a 2-pack ($12.99) and a 4-pack ($17.99). Want to get your money’s worth? Then you might want to go for the latter—it works out to be cheaper. I know what you’re thinking—$20 seems like a lot to spend on cleaning pads. But trust me, one pack will last you a long time. You probably won’t need to get any more for a while. And anyway, we’ll probably be seeing a price drop for Cyber Monday!
4. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Muti-Surface Concentrate
Most cleaners are filled with chemicals—chemicals that are harsh for both your skin and the environment. Why use something like that when you can opt for something gentler? Ever heard of Mrs. Meyer’s? The brand is known for its line of biodegradable cleaners. Take this multi-surface concrete, for example—it does not contain any harsh chemicals. What’s more, is that it’s biodegradable. In other words, it helps create a more sustainable environment.
What can you use it for? A bunch of things. For example, you can use it to clean the walls, countertops—even the floor! All you have to is pour some into a spray bottle (no diluting necessary even though it says “concentrate” on the bottle). From there, you can clean away. It comes with a lemon verbena scent too, which will leave everything smelling fresh. There are other scents that you can choose from too!
- 1 Bottle Contains 32 oz. of Cleaning Solution
Mrs. Meyer’s costs a little more than your traditional cleaner—but that’s to be expected from an eco-friendly product. Want to get it for cheaper? Amazon is probably your best bet. You can get a two-pack for $16, which works out to be around $8 each. If you can wait a few weeks, the price might go down too for Cyber Monday. Then you can stock up!
5. Stasher Silicone Reusable Food Bag
Ziplock bags contribute to plastic waste, which takes hundreds of years to decompose. Here’s an eco-friendly alternative—reusable food bags. Made from silicone, they do not contain any PVC, BPA, or latex. In other words, you can rest assured knowing that whatever you put inside will not be contaminated by chemicals! Simply remove the excess air before pinching the lock seal close. Your food will stay fresh for much longer! You can use it carry your lunch or store things in the fridge—the choice is yours.
When the bag gets dirty, all you have to do is give them a wash in the dishwasher. There are five sizes to choose from—which one will you be going for? Did we also mention that they come in various colors?
- 1 Reusable Food Bag
Stasher bags retail for ~$12 each. It might seem like a lot for a bag but in the long-run, it’s definitely more cost-effective than ziplocks. Remember, you can use it again and again as long as you keep it clean. With a little bit of luck, you’ll be able to snag them for cheap on Cyber Monday!
